Donald Trump is not a Bigot or Racist..
I thought it was his father, Fred Trump, who refused to rent to blacks.

Well, I'm quite sure I'm not gonna put any part of my life story on a public forum, where I'm debating someone (only, if I thought my story could help someone)----but, suffice it to say, that, IMO, I am living Joni Mitchell's song "Both Sides, Now".
When I was 18, I felt I should've been at least 40, as I felt like I had lived at least 3 lifetimes, by then, because of all the things I had experienced / had happened, in my life (NON-Aspie-related)----then, when I was 27, I thought that I was "all that and a bag of chips"----but, STILL, I hadn't experienced the things, that I've experienced in, say, the last 18 years; and, I'm thinking that if I live, say, another 30 years, I can imagine my looking-back at myself, at THIS age, and thinking: "HA----you THOUGHT you knew!!".
Where did I say I didn't like science? I LOVE science----can't get enough of it----I just don't think that any ONE thing provides THEE answer; and, as much as my tons of books are, pretty much, quite sacred to me, I don't think life is IN a book (ie., I'd be more inclined to take the word of someone who had LIVED a situation, than I would take the word of someone who had STUDIED a situation / issue / whatever).
you sound kinda cool, but you should know that lots of sciences end in "ology." i would rather take a pill that has been studied in thousands than one that helped a friend with no other info. that's statistical power.

LOL I'm not sure why you seem to think you needed to "teach" me this, as I feel I have already demonstrated that I know it----so, I'm not gonna address it, again.
i would rather take a pill that has been studied in thousands than one that helped a friend with no other info. that's statistical power.
It's NOT "statistical power", IMO----have you never read a 101 articles (not literal) about drugs being recalled because of the damage / death they're causing people? You seem to think that studies / research / the opinion of professionals, is the be-all and end-all----*I* DON'T; because studies can be skewed to the conclusion of whomever has the deepest pockets (oftentimes, Big Pharma), WANTS it to be concluded, and why would I take the word of someone who stands to gain (monetarily, usually), from a planned outcome.
Now, that being said, I wouldn't ONLY take the advice of a friend who has taken a drug that worked for them, either----if, for no other reason than because drugs react differently, with different people----and, I would research the drug, until I felt I had found a conclusion that works for ME (whether or not that resulted in my taking the drug, or not).

I'm talkin' about 27-years-old being around THIRTY-years-ago, and I'm not the same person I was (think the same way), 30 years ago----and, I think if someone DOES / IS, that's a little sad (IMO, it would seem, then, that they haven't grown, much).
That explains alot.
Yes, he was an adult----BUT, he hadn't even been married the FIRST time, yet; and, I'm thinking 3 wives, 5 kids, and 8 grandkids (IIRC), changes a person / their thinking; and, I'm thinking he grew in other ways, as well (as I'm thinking most people do----it's been over 40, for him, since 27).
As for my supporting PE Trump: I didn't even support him with my vote----I AM, however, supporting what I feel is logic; and, saying someone is the same person they were 40+ years ago (thinks the same way), doesn't seem logical to me, as I'M not the same person (don't think the same way), as I was when I was 27.
Well, I am not a supporter of any -ology being an exact science----and, IMO, that's a CROCK (future / past behavior)----and, I'm thinking the average American isn't aware of that "tenet", as you say; and, I'm really glad they aren't, because it seems it would be a hindrance to them ever trying to do better / BE better (a better person).

meds are okayed after having been studied in thousands. when they are given to millions, previously unseen problems are unearthed. that's why it's good not to take the latest, greatest thing until it's been around for a while. these days, researchers have to disclose relationships to the "deep pockets" at the end of the study, so you can factor that into your analysis. if you don't trust studies, exactly what sort of research do you do?
you're the one who said you don't trust "ologies" but you like science. i was just pointing out the disconnect.
no one can predict the future perfectly. people can change. i, for example, worry less about what people think of me than when i was young. that's maturity. but i was conscientious and i still am. i wasn't neurotic and i'm still not. i was an introvert and i still am. i liked to learn and i still do. i wasn't very racist and i'm still not. the best predictor isn't a perfect predictor. trump's current behavior (wanting a muslim registry, calling hispanics rapists, e.g.) is evidence that he hasn't changed.

Again, do you think you're teaching me something? Do you think I've never read about how studies are conducted / approved?
that's why it's good not to take the latest, greatest thing until it's been around for a while.
EXACTLY----so why would you make such a matter-of-fact / blanket statement, as:
"i would rather take a pill that has been studied in thousands..."
I've seen you make matter-of-fact statements like this, before----like, you seem to think that you're gonna just swoop-in here and make a statement, that settles EVERYTHING (you even had the nerve to write in this very thread: "NOT open for debate"). Do you think we're all s'pose to genuflect and say: "Oh, thankyou, cathylynn----THANKYOU, for saving us from our ignorance!!" (LOL)----or, do you think your education validates your every utterance? (If you haven't read my rant, before----lots of people on here have degrees [myself, included], but I feel degrees only makes one learned, NOT smart.)
these days, researchers have to disclose relationships to the "deep pockets" at the end of the study, so you can factor that into your analysis. if you don't trust studies, exactly what sort of research do you do?
I didn't say I don't trust studies----you seem to be suffering, terribly, from bad reading comprehension and not being able to follow a conversation. I said: "I just don't think that any ONE thing provides THEE answer". When I research something, I consider / consult MANY sources----maybe, Wikipedia, articles from "regular" people and professionals, medical journals, reports----basically, wherever I can find something on the subject.
you're the one who said you don't trust "ologies" but you like science. i was just pointing out the disconnect.
There was no "disconnect", cuz I didn't say that.
no one can predict the future perfectly. people can change.
EXACTLY----so, again, why do you seem to think it's acceptable to speak so matter-of-factly (as in, saying PE Trump was an adult [seemingly insinuating that he couldn't change], and that thing about past / future behaviors).
the best predictor isn't a perfect predictor.
Again----EXACTLY!
trump's current behavior (wanting a muslim registry, calling hispanics rapists, e.g.) is evidence that he hasn't changed.
Well..... He didn't say he wouldn't rent to 'em----THAT'S a change!! LOL (sorry, couldn't resist)
PE Trump isn't the wisest when it comes to thinking BEFORE he speaks----if you noticed, when people booed him when he made that comment about Mexicans, he immediately walked-it-back by saying: "And some of them might be very good people----I dunno"----but, I just don't believe-in throwing the baby out, with the bathwater (which is what I feel some people are doing when they make what I feel are HORRENDOUS blanket statements, regarding a person's character [or, an issue, or whatever else]). Bottom line, for ME: He will be our next president----and, he hasn't even been sworn-in, yet----and, I think making "the sky is falling----Trump's been elected" posts, is ridiculous.

^^ LOL That's the best you've got (you were seething so badly, that retort was barely understandable)!
BUMMER----and, I had allowed myself to get my hopes up, after you came back at me, with: "so, you don't like science - i'm not surprised."; that'll show ME (not to get my hopes, up, again).
Well----alrighty, then.....

I don't trust the people behind science.
Science is just explaining how we see and interpret the things god did. We can see the universe how he does. I don't believe religion and science are at odds there's plenary of religious scientists
for those who have trouble seeing that the pronoun and the noun were used together accidentally, please leave out "it" for the above to be grammatically correct. also, i hit the s instead of the d in do. i have poor fine motor skills, also the reason i don't bother with the shift key.
my husband and i own our house and two cars outright. we are still in love. i am about to embark on a rewarding and lucrative career. i am thought well of by my fellow students. i have a big wad of happiness clogging input that would take way more than a few insults to penetrate.

I agree, religion and science don't have to be at odds. The problem comes when religion is taken too literally, such as insisting that the earth is only a few thousand years old, or that everything was created in six literal days, leaving no room for evolution.

I never said they were but God didnt create the internet or eradicate smallpox
Why don't you trust the people. We just want to do our best to help people but you need equipment and equipment costs money. Most studies are funded by either the government or charyties
Why do people paint scientists in such a light. We go though 8 years of having no money just so we can work and help people in the future. I've not met a single scientist who is in it for the money.
It takes extreme amounts of dedication to be a scientist and just wanting money isn't enough of a motivation.
You all forget that it's not the scientist who choose what gets funded.
