Why aren't we allowed to preach about homosexuality?

Even just getting the hots for someone is as much a sin as everything else.

This is why Christianity sucks and the Bible is garbage.

They are literally trying to destroy human nature.

DarthMetaKnight, you can be really funny sometimes. The Bible is "garbage" according to you because it actually sets out a few basic rules for people to follow, and some of those rules you yourself don't really like because you seem to think that one or more of them is somehow detrimental to "human nature" (whatever that is).

What, exactly, did you mean here by "human nature"? How is it defined? Who defines it? What qualifies as being not a part of human nature? What would you exclude? Is it abstinence? Self-control? Doing what is right because one follows one's conscience?

Islam has rules as well to follow. Does it too "suck" because of this? What about Judaism? Buddhism?

A phobia is an irrational fear of something. Islam is inherently dangerous, so it is NOT irrational to fear (and in my case, loathe) it.

What I said was true. Christians and Muslims do NOT worship the same God. Deal with it.

DarthMetaKnight wrote that Christianity "sucks" and that the Bible is "garbage", but apparently that's okay to say. Say the same thing, or something similar, or simply tell the truth about Islam and all of a sudden the SJW's here start preaching about "Islamophobia"! What a bloody joke! Such HYPOCRISY!

I stand by what I said about Islam. If you don't like it then sue me!

No they do NOT! What blasphemous nonsense! "Allah" may be the word they use for "God", but what they worship is false and evil. DO try to get your facts straight before you use the keyboard, otherwise you just might end up embarrassing yourself.

Those aren't facts...

That is your opinion about a different religion than yours.

Yes, they ARE facts. You, on the other hand, seem to believe in "alternative facts". Perhaps you should work for Mr. Trump.

Fact 1: Christianity established itself circa the beginning of our calendar, approx 2,000 years ago. Yes, I know, back then they did not use the calendar we now use today (the Gregorian), but that's beside the point. Islam was first preached 600 years LATER.

Fact 2: Muslims do not use the Bible. They read the Quran. Different book altogether.

Fact 3: Muslims reject the Trinity.

Fact 4: Muslims see Christ as just another prophet. Christians do not agree with this.

Shall I go on? Do you see a pattern here?

Soon your local, old, bearded, robed guy will be telling you: "GOD likes LGBT".

Then what will you do?

The god of the old testament is pretty much where Islam gets most of their ideas. Where do think they go the ideas to stone an behead from?

Christians and Muslims are Abrahamic. I happen to believe the Jesus movement was more political than religious, it is just it was not subversive enough.

It is funny this is turning to a debate which set of bad system morality is better when they both stink.

Sodom and Gomorrah were unrepentant sinful cities which is why they were destroyed, they were not killed for being gay. Words based on "sodom" came into language later as a metaphor, however you're working backwards with multiple problems. One; you are assuming sodomy relates to anal sex or homosexuality but it doesn't, while that is a common understanding it is a much broader term that covers all "non traditional" sex including oral. Two; you are assuming that the modern meaning of the word implies that the people of Sodom were all gay. Don't you see how ridiculous that is? Sodom and Gomorrah were *not* destroyed for homosexuality but for being unrepentant sinners, your beliefs about The Bible (and therefore Christianity) are simply based on misconceptions.

Exactly!

Both Muslims and Christians plagiarized the same Jewish God of the Old Testament, so all three religions worship the same God.

And for exactly that reason all three religions hate each other, and brand each other as evil heretics.

Neither the Bible or the Quran are dangerous. What is dangerous is how reactionary Christians and Islamists choose to interpret them.
Both are prone to preaching hate.

^^^^^^

Exactly.

As a venerable old Anglican priest I saw on a TV doc said of religion, "the Bible, and other holy books should come with a warning label on the cover saying 'contents can be hazardous, handle with care'".

The difference between the two is actually quite evident on this thread, and it's of genuine concern. The Koran is explicitly full of intolerance and hate, The Bible isn't but people assume it is. This lets people justify "extreme" Islam as "misinterpretation" of the Koran and that it's the same thing as Christianity\The Bible, but it's not. The Koran is hateful literature, The Bible isn't so to lump the two together is disingenuous.

I'm no defender of the Quran and it is explicit in the sense it less like fables and more like direct incitement, but you come across as if you haven't read the Old Testament objectively. It is every bit as violent and despicable in values as the Quran. In fact you can see a direct evolution of ideas between the two, and they aren't so different in the grand scheme of things.

The god of the Old Testament is every bit as vengeful, paranoid and narcissistic as it is is in the Quran.

Since we are talking religion here I have a few questions following a comment- In my singular opinion...religion was created out of fear of the unknown and propagated to control the masses. Sorry for the long post but I really wonder.

And the few questions- only answer if you site specific book, line, etc.and which bible translation please.
WRT christianity....the discrepancies between the old testament and the new boggle my mind and defy logic for me. Turn the other cheek versus cutting off body parts? Why isn't anyone wanting to cut off body parts any more?
Because it's inhumane? Because something in the bible is inhumane? Why did Jesus disagree with the old testament, isn't the old testament supposed to his father's words?
WRT to Jesus, there s a reference I have heard preached that says, "the apostle Jesus loved" ..so how come he in particular loved one and how was that love different and where does Jesus say prophets or priests shouldn't marry?
And where is the original Bible? I guess it's written in Hebrew or greek? I'd like to see some very unbiased person translate that today. And when exactly was it written and gathered into a book? Hundreds of years after the action? That mightily affects the interpretation.
If Jesus/God is making a new or return trip, which religion is he gonna join? What is he going to think about how those religions that "love" him don't seem to love each other?
