If Paris falls to the barbarian hordes, it won’t be a great loss. Sure a lot of Parisians will suffer, but so what? Every contribution to civilization they have made has already been dispersed and assimilated by other countries. It isn’t as if Paris is the be-all and do-all of our global culture.

Climate change is real. I am going to side with the scientists on this.

The problem is that politicians don't have peoples interests at heart. There is no evidence to suggest that the fuel tax, if enacted at the present moment would substantially lower CO2 emissions. If Macron cared about climate change, he would be focusing on expanding public transportation. Without necessary infrastructure, fuel taxes don't make any sense.

Over 120,000 nice, normal, fed up French citizens took to the streets in every corner of their country Saturday. President Macron deployed 89,000 police and 80 of those armored cars to stop them. He failed.

Hundreds of French people in yellow vests advanced along the Marseilles waterfront. Two armored cars approached from the opposite direction. A lone woman ran forward and situated herself in between, waving a yellow kerchief which smartly coordinated with her yellow vest. The Berliet VXB-170 twelve ton behemoths continued their advance.

The woman stood her ground. With the approaching force just feet away, she threw wide her arms and defied them. For a moment, one brave héroïne slowed the power of the state to a crawl. The next, a police officer in full riot gear swept her aside, and a platoon of police marched onto the scene.

After interviewing many gilets jaunes (yellow vests), and observing their demonstrations, it can report that the streets belong not to the government, nor to the police, but to the men, women and children in the yellow vests. Moreover, contrary to what you may have seen in the media, in their hearts, the police are with the protestors. The demonstrators are in fact the friends, neighbors and families of the police arrayed against them. Except in extreme cases, the police are standing aside and leaving the gilet jaunes in charge.

The gilets jaunes took over a large toll station on the road to Marseilles. They narrowed the lanes, but allowed traffic to pass. Toll collectors and police left them completely in charge. The protestors did not allow motorists to pay the toll. They are prepared to starve the leviathan.

There's a lot of misinformation out there. We've all seen images from Paris and other cities of masked hooligans in yellow vests smashing windows and setting fires. Nearly all of this violence has come from radical leftists who never miss a chance to riot. The real gilets jaunes are upset that their president and the media are using the violent thugs to smear them. The average French observer knows the protesters. They get it. Will the French government succeed in smearing the earnest, nonviolent people in the yellow vests?

Macron Aims to Win Over Yellow Vests With New Spending in France

It seems like Chinese leaders are reversing direction on the Green agenda.

Although China promised under its commitment to the Paris Agreement to ‘peak’ emissions around 2030, to decrease carbon dioxide emissions per unit of economic output and to use more green energy, China’s greenhouse gas emissions increased by 1.7% in 2017 and are projected to grow by 4.7% in 2018. With green energy an abject failure in terms of meeting China’s need for either energy or clean air, all that’s left is propaganda. To that end, the NDRC [China’s super-planner, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC)] said it is considering floating a national pricing ‘framework‘ on pollutants by the end of 2020 ‘to curb environmental damage while keeping the economy afloat.‘ China’s carbon market has been scaled back and is now low-key.

Beyond that, China’s central government makes little mention of carbon emissions and climate change, except in official propaganda, such as in preparation for the upcoming UN Conference of the Parties in Katowice, Poland, where the main goal will be to produce a ‘Rule Book’ by which participant countries will commit to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and to disclose how well they have done in this regard. But without the $100 billion per year for the Green Climate Fund, China will have lost much of its motivation to keep up the pretence and leverage over other parties, and the raison d’être for the entire enterprise will collapse. Since Paris, the Green Climate Fund has obtained only a small fraction of the $100 billion it claimed, including from lame-duck President Barack Obama whose commitment was later cut by President Trump. The fund now languishes, with dwindling resources and beset by internecine conflict. The collapse of a commitment to reduce greenhouse gases by the US and the EU gives China an ‘out’. The failure to marshal the $100 billion eliminates most of its reason to stay in.

To the extent that China tries to keep the ruse going, it will argue that, like the Third World nations it purports to represent, it should not be held to the same standard of emissions reductions and disclosure as the developed nations. But the world has changed in another way since the Paris Agreement was signed: China’s promises and propaganda are no longer believed.

The "Les Gilets Jaunes" or Yellow Vests, have been protesting the carbon taxes across France imposed by President Macron in compliance with the Paris Accord. While some protests have wrongly turned violent, the individuals near Marseille CFACT met were all peacefully demonstrating against Macron's climate policies. Water vapor is the largest contributor to the Earth’s greenhouse effect. So if the factors that cause cloud creation are ignored then how can one believe that man-made global warming is out of control.

There's much framing, last saturday wasn't destructive, thus they show photo's from the week before, that's everywhere, and the red christmas lights that gives a violent picture, or is it spectacle for the top, a heavy hint of blood-sacrifice, on the "champs elysees", soon?

So if they somehow get macron to step aside, what would happen? Do they have a Vice President?

Most of their requests seemed pretty reasonable to me, like wanting protections for their poor, their working class, their transport system and local business. The stuff with the immigrants might be harder to work on but they could get some things started.

I mean, couldn’t they at least PRETEND to work with the common people? It seems a little ridiculous.
