Well..that IS a common occurance here on PPR- atheists ganging up on a religous person.
That is an issue.

But here we have all kinds of hot button issues (both religion vs non religion, AND one religion against another) being argued by hot headed dedicated axe grinders.

But I dont see this thread as being like a gang picking on someone. Its more like watching Jefferey Daumier locked in a cage with jack the Ripper and the Boston Strangler. It may get ugly, but atleast they are all about evenly matched!

Interesting analysis, because this thread is about loving all Christians and Jews, and explains why both should love each other.

In all honesty, I must say this is quite a warped view of the nature of this thread -- at least as far as the OP's intentions go.

Cousin Joshua did not start a new religion. He was trying to cure the ills of the religion of his fathers. It was the slimy creature, Saul (later called Paul) who started a new religion. Protestants should call their religion Paulianity rather than Christianity.

More of his writings on Christian theology are available today than from any other Christian of his time whose writings are as highly respected. Being a mortal human like us, he dealt with his own flawed and sinful nature, and explained how he learned to be a Christian despite having that sinful nature to have to struggle with. His Saul/Paul life was also quite the turnaround, from enthusiastic persecutor of the Church, to Spirit-filled rejoicer in being counted worthy to suffer the world's torments in the capacity of his being a Christian -- persecuted because he was a true Christian, meaning one who preached the Gospel no matter how many times he was threatened.

As fellow methodist I have always said this. In regards to my faith if Christians and Jews are to love each other then we should love muslims as well.

After all Abraham is the father of three religions and people.

Christians and Jews share common tenets. They can and should love Muslims, but Muslims differ very importantly in their tenets regarding what is and is not acceptable violence. They even religiously believe they should hate and kill Christians and Jews.

True I find that most Muslims in America do not follow the Sharia laws. But in the middle east the mayjority due weather they are sunni or shiite. I do wish they could be secular like the Jews or me I do believe in God but I do not let it speak for me in regards to socical and poltical issues.

I also support seperation of church and state which is a good thing.

Sorry, I haven't had time to ready all of this thread.

Yes, Jesus was teaching the true Jewish religion. Maybe John was becoming Hellenistic. I think Paul tended to Stoicism. However, as Paul himself said there was one major stumbling block and that was the Resurrection.

I think you refer to 1 Cor 1:22-23:
Quote:
22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:

23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;

The crucifixion was a stumblingblock for the Jews because most could not understand a Messiah who was sent to them ultimately to be killed. In their minds, the Messiah's arrival would consist of instant and visible victory. The "suffering servant" Messiah foretold in Isaiah 52:13 - 53:12 was unfamiliar to them because many of them had, by that time, grown unfamiliar with the Scriptures -- as Jesus often remarked they were. ("Jesus replied, 'You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God'" Matt 22:29.)

The Jews where looking for some one to destroy the roman empire how ever Jesus was a man of peace one of the reasons why the Jews didn't view Jesus as the Messiah.
