School shooting in CT

Clearly guns has a huge part in this, in places like Canada you don't hear of things like this NEARLY as often as in the U.S.

It's such a tragic event, I'm at a loss of words. The grief those families are feeling, it'll always be there. I hope they get all the support in the world. I hope the media can give them privacy, and I hope that this isn't the main story for weeks to come.

Not really. There's probably hundreds of thousands of firearms in Canada. If they're there, they can be used; if they're there, they can be acquired. Just like good old Martin Bryant in Oz; he acquired them illegally. Just like Anders; he acquired his Mini-14 legally. Both in countries that aren't the US (with a smidgen of the population).

It's something else. It's not guns or Asperger's.

It's humans. Humans kill other humans, and it's never going to change. More humans in one place, and more humans killing other humans based on percentages.

Anyway, color me indifferent to these things, the emotional impact; it's just life. Disease, club, bullet, landslide, earthquake and whatnot.

I'm angry that the news will focus on this incident and ignore other stories. It's an unfortunate incident, but it's one of many, and I hate when the news focuses entirely on one story for days on end. It's violence porn, not journalism.

What a terrible tragedy befalling society's truly innocent. I think how Bob Marley would react to such an event and try to honor his memory. He would have words of wisdom to offer.

Ugh...... I hate when the media demonizes people with autism. Like this article, saying that "Ryan Lanza told law enforcement that his brother was believed to suffer from a personality disorder and be "somewhat autistic" and lived with the mother in Connecticut, the third official added." Nobody in the Autistic community would ever condone that kind of behavior, or think like that. It's bs

Was it the brother that the media thought was the shooter that had aspergers?

As in the past, stories like this always seem to have one agency that maybe did, maybe didn't report something specific, bloggers picked it up (or made it up, who knows?), and hysteria follows.

It'll be sorted out eventually. The fact is, we don't know for sure what the truth is yet. Even if it was on ABC, they could have been wrong.

i live in new england and i have been watching this story all day and i have not heard anything about the shooter having aspergers.

and would just wish everyone would knock off such f#%@ stupid talk.dont turn this sick tragady into another posthumous autism diagnosis without real reason to suspect so

This is not a diagnosis.
And if there is one, there are 70,000 of us just on this one little American website alone who have never hurt anyone, who only want friends and help fitting in to a sometimes hostile world.
There are supposedly seven MILLION autistics/aspergians worldwide.

If he didn't obtain a gun, he would have made a bomb, or like Laurie Dann, poisoned a tray full of juice cups and left them in the school refrigerator.
Maybe we can get a petition up, for the media to be legally required to state, whenever a murderer is caught or convicted, if there is no formal diagnosis, that 'This killer is a Non-Autistic, does not have Asperger's, was not drunk or stoned, was just mean and evil.'
