I don't trust the people behind science.

Science is just explaining how we see and interpret the things god did. We can see the universe how he does. I don't believe religion and science are at odds there's plenary of religious scientists
I never said they were but God didnt create the internet or eradicate smallpox

Why don't you trust the people. We just want to do our best to help people but you need equipment and equipment costs money. Most studies are funded by either the government or charyties

Why do people paint scientists in such a light. We go though 8 years of having no money just so we can work and help people in the future. I've not met a single scientist who is in it for the money.

It takes extreme amounts of dedication to be a scientist and just wanting money isn't enough of a motivation.

You all forget that it's not the scientist who choose what gets funded.
Are you going to be a scientist?

I already am. I am currently part of a team that is enhancing immunotherapy for cancer.

I am still working towards a PhD so I'm not a doctor yet but yes I am a scientist

It's nice to be able to tell someone. I'm not allowed to talk about it in IRL for fear of backlash

Really? Why would people dislike scientists? Scientists are useful to society.

That's awful! No wonder we're descending into a medieval dystopia.

Okey-dokey, then----I stand, corrected.

you are the one who keeps throwing negative personal things at me. i just assume you don't know how to debate fairly.

I don't see how anything I said, was worse than what you said----I, for-the-most-part, was just being blunt; but, if you were saying things the way alot of people, possibly (myself, included), could interpret your words, you were saying things passive-aggressively; and, IMO, that's WORSE. Like, when you said "so, you don't like science - i'm not surprised.", you're telling me that wasn't you, taking a shot at me? I think it was.

Also, when you said: "cc, in what ways have you changed?"----to me, that could have been interpreted (and WAS interpreted that way, by me) as a passive-aggressive bait to get me to list ways in which I felt I had changed, so that you could come back at me and "teach" me (probably, with some -ology, cuz you seem to think that must be "the final word"), where I was wrong in thinking whatever.

Good t'know----cuz, IMO (previously), there's only a couple of reasons why people use all lowercase letters: They do it, to say "You're not the boss of me" and/or "I REFUSE to conform"; and, because they're only thinking of themselves----they seem to be saying "I'm gonna write the way I wanna write and I don't care that you (unspecified pronoun) will have to suffer-through figuring it out"; which is, IMO, quite selfish.

my husband and i own our house and two cars outright. we are still in love. i am about to embark on a rewarding and lucrative career. i am thought well of by my fellow students. i have a big wad of happiness clogging input that would take way more than a few insults to penetrate.

My thoughts, on this proclamation:

1. Again----do you think these things validate you----or, that we're supposed to be impressed, by this, your résumé, of sorts?
2. Of COURSE the "my fellow students" think well of you----cuz, they're "KIDS" (like, late teens / early twenties, I would assume, for-the-most-part), and you are / have already achieved what they ASPIRE to be (and they're still ignorant enough to believe that that little piece of paper [a degree] will automatically bring them the world, on a silver platter); so, IMO, that represents next-to-nothing (meaning, those kids' opinion of you, doesn't impress me [like what, seemingly, you wanted us, to be]).
3. It seems you needed to tell us these things, because I struck a nerve----and, interestingly, except for "That explains alot.", I don't recall any of it, being intentionally insulting, because I tried to consistently qualify each statement with something like: "it seems".

I am a scientist, so get ready to distrust what I write.

The reason science and religeon are often at odds is because science asks you to question assumptions and beliefs. Religeons ask you believe without direct evidence.
