I think that it might be okay sometime in the future if teaching about politics heavily increased in schools since kids would actually have some level of understanding about what they're doing instead of just doing what their friends or parents are doing. Actually, they should increase teaching about politics and different options even if the age remained the same or was raised.

Also, if we're talking about raising the age, wouldn't 25 be the most logical since that's usually the time when a person's brains stop developing? In my opinion that would also be a good legal age for drinking alcohol, smoking and using the legal drugs since they would no longer have the chance to harm the development of the brains in the same way.

Who’s version of politics?
As is they few already slightly taught liberal democrat version of politics which is rewriting history. I’ve heard kids say they were taught guns are banned completely. I’ve had college adults think so too cause it’s what they were taught, and I’m like no guns aren’t banned yet. Some text books rewrite the bill of rights, example “ right if the national guard to bear arms”

Problem is they don’t know any better other then what they were taught, such people shouldn’t be making political decisions for our nation. If they don’t have a basic understanding of our constitution, bill of Riggs and political system.

I honestly think 18 is too young to fight in a War, that is way to young to put such a risk on the rest of your life. We aren't short on population, I wouldn't oppose to raising it to 25 year old before sending one off to possibly die.

They actually pick 18 somewhat deliberately for that reason, ie. that a person thinks they're invincible and doesn't know how bad things can get.

Also it’s the peak physical fitness age. Cut off for military service is 34. Which means at that point they don’t consider you physically and medically fit for service unless you’re already in and climbed the ranks, then they value your experience and leadership.
Would you want an army of 40 year old private’s fighting against 18-25 year old enemeies? “Fighting is a young man’s game”
Perhaps 20 would be better. I wish we didn’t have to fight wars. I wish humans were all peaceful and coo exist :(

Facts about politics, like reasons why it's important to vote, what people get to vote about, which political parties have wanted which laws to come in to existence etc. The last one would be really important since it gives the clearest image on what political parties want the same things as you and which ones have views opposite from yours. Then people would choose from them what political party sounds like it'd be close to their values and view of the world.

The election of the parliament will be this month and while I'm not sure yet what political party, not to mention which person, I'll vote, I know for sure which political parties won't get my vote. But they don't really teach politics in school here either, so I'm selftaught by simply following politics and seeing what parties have the views most similiar to mine.

I still fill it should be altered in some way, maybe the combination of increasing the age to 20 added with you do not send them off into a zone where they can get killed unless it's necessary. Most conflicts lately aren't really a lot of guys charging on battlefields or hiking through the jungle. They are mostly just holding their position and keeping a look out for threats. When they do small little missions, I would think they would have enough people over 25 to put at risk, with training you can keep your body in really good shape, the military is pretty good at keeping their people fit. There are 55 year olds that could probably put both of us to shame on strength and endurance. I think we could compromise, dying at 18 because you entered a war zone just seems a little harsh, are they really mature enough to understand what is at stake? Not that 25 sounds much better, at least they would had a little extra life. It's sad we have to risk peoples lives to fight wars, but that's just how it is.

Yea, making a play on undeveloped minds. I guess that's just the world we live in.

No. Those inexperienced teenieboppers are too easily swayed to join the alt-right. How about we raise the voting age to 25?

I can see it now:

"The left-wing intersectionals have moral purity and prudity. We have sex, drugs, rock and roll, occultism, and edgy outfits! Come join the cool kids!"

The scary thing - very little of that required any lying (well, other than the 'cool' part).

Except, of course, that while the modern "left" (using the term loosely because intersectionality and opposition to the ethnic nationalism are just as accepted on the right as the left these days) might individually be somewhat prudish, they're much more sexually tolerant than the alt-right; they may be less interested in drugs than the rebels of their parents' generation, but they're more tolerant of drug use than the alt-right; and that they have pretty much all the good music.

Of course they are but the right have convinced a lot of people to believe otherwise.

The right are more talented and detective marketing then the left. They've convinced millions that the left are strict and authoritarian sexual justice warriors. They've convinced millions that the left hates freedom of speech, doing an excellent job of distracting people from the right's attacks on free speech.

They have better music and more of it yet they have people convinced the left only likes abstract new age modern art music. They say it's all part of the "cultural marxist" conspiracy to destroy culture.

The reason I think the right will win is because they are more skilled at lying.

Both sides attack free speech they don't like and support free speech they do like. Same as it ever was. The first amendment is a treasure we should preserve.

Until 2007 the voting age in Iran (at least for women) was 15. The govt raised it to 18 that year. I don't see why it shouldn't be 16 everywhere. If you can drive at that age and (if you're working, at least sometimes) you pay taxes, why the hell don't you have the right to vote? It's a bit outdated imo to argue against that. More democracy means more people can vote and for those of us on the left, Gen Z like Millenials will only make the US at least more progressive, so let 'em vote!

Raising the voting age would be a terrible idea. The vote is already skewed in favor of old white hairs, due to having a higher turn out voting than younger voters.

If anything all the younger voters need to be encouraged to vote, no need to give even more power to the older generation.

I say if anything there should be an age limit...once you're 80-85, time to move over and let the next generation have a chance to influence government.

In most endeavors there is a prime age, once you're experienced but before you're out of date. I'd be fine with you get to vote between ages 25 and 75, but I doubt I can convince the country of that.

Is this not simply an indication of the lack of responsibility of young people?

The elderly already face enough discrimination. There's no need to add to that.
