Why do you hate the USA?

If nobody watched it t would not be on but obviously they do so you only have yourselves to blame

I don't hate the USA, that's just another of the many lies told over the last three decades by people on the extreme right; but if I did hate the USA, this would by why:

1) It is a country and all countries are hateful because they cause people more problems than they solve. For example, there would be fewer crimes if there were fewer laws.

2)The United States, like all other countries, is a kleptocracy. Its major purpose is to transfer wealth into the hands of the very rich so it can be concentrated for big projects like highways and wars.

3) The United States pretends to be special ("exceptional") when it is not. It is less free than other democracies, there is less "opportunity" than in many wealthy countries, It is harder to get real news here than in most other free sociecties (or quite few "unfree" ones. It gives a smaller share of its wealth away than other countries while pretending to be so magnanamous. It serves its people (especially medically and educationally) less well than countries with fewer resouces.

4) The US government is arrogant, pretending that it has a right to police the world.

5) The US government is ethnocentric, judging all countries, not in terms of their own values and interests, but always in terms of our values and interests.

6) The USA pretends to be "center right" politically when it actually "far right" politically and thus misjudges and mis evaluates almost all other countries. This is why so many Americans thing that other Americans "hate" America. We don't hate America, we just wish she would behave less hatefully toward her own citizens and to people in other parts of the world.

7) The US economy is probably more greed driven than any other economy in the world, except for those countries who barely know what a modern economy is so they are forced to model their economies on ours.

In a country where over 70% of the population claims to be Christian, nowhere but in Church do we hear of the Prodigal Son, or the Good Samaritan, or the Woman taken in adultery, or the Sermon on the Mount, or the Works of Mercy. A country full of rich christians should have made the world a much better place long before now instead of continuing to contribute disproportionately to the problems of the world.

I don't hate America, but it doesn't surprise that some people do or that some even want to blow us up. But to tell the truth, I can't hold that against them. I'm sorry, because we have a lot of good people here. But there were also a lot of good people here when we europeans grabbed the place, and there were a lot of good people in Africa when we decided to use their bodies to do our hard work for us, and there are plenty of good people in Iraq and Afghanstan today who are paying for our lies, greed, and arrogance, and incompetence.

I'm embarrassed when people bring up the Geneva Convention and think they know anything about it.

Peace starts with yourself. Either clear your conciounce through repentance/atonement style or meditate and find reality that way, or learn science, perhaps the hydron colider will prove/ disprove the existence of <whatever>. Be at peace with yourself when it counts is all.

I have already commented on this, but I felt as an older fellow Idahoan, I owe you a response on each specific item.

We got into WWII because our own national interests were involved. We waited two years during which the fascist states and Japan seemed to be winning. The bombing of our own fleet by the Japanese state provoked our entry. It was individual soldiers (on all sides) who prodided what little humanity, restraint, or morality came out of that war. The planners, administrators, and strategists were as ruthless and as careless about human life as warmakers have ever been. The United States is not exempt from this. Has anyone wondered why so few Jews made it to the United States during the 1930s and 1940s

We (our government, that is) defend small countries when it is in our interests to do so. when those small countries are our "friends," and where there some strategic resource that our government wants to control or fears losing control over. Of course the Kurds are not a country (one of the reasons they are not is noone would help them), but look what we did to them, and we actually promised to help them. In most cases, we simply ignore what is going on as with Tibet, Kashmir, Palestine, Chechnya, Ossetia, East Timor, Biafra, etc.

Aid like defense is also calculated. Aid is not based on need, but on the considerations I mentioned above. Also, as many other posters on this thread pointed out, we are very rich and the amount we give in humanitarian aid is a pittance when compared to our vast wealth.

And just who wanted to "stop" the USSR, anyway. Mostly the U.S., so the "trillions" spent was not because anybody asked for it. Someone who "helps" when help is not asked for or called for cannot complain when his "help" is not appreciated. Among the many forces that have been credited with "stopping" the USSR, there is one that deserves most or all of the credit: the peoples of the various Soviet Republics.

Like I said before, I don't hate the USA or any other country. In fact I try to ignore all of them in so far as that is possible. But I don't like our arrogant attitude, especially when it turns into a whine when we are not "properly" appreciated.

International Law in the sense of enforceable law is a bogus notion. Why? Because there is no world government to enforce world laws. International Law (so-called) is a collection of protocols, customs and conventions which are observed as long as observing them produce a benefit.

It is very simple.. If there is not police force there is no law worth talking about.

Thought I am NOT an American Nationalist. We arent perfect, but we arent all that bad either and realistically the US has plenty of potential for good.

The "police" are the other states: If a country is constantly found to be in breach of International Law than it looses its reputation as a reliable player.

But there are differences here: The states in Europe are to a much higher degree interdependent and therefore much more keen to keep their records relative "clean" (at least officially), whilst other states, like the US, Russia or China, can allow themselves more "freedom" in "interpretation" of international law.

USA's main contributions to the world in recent years: wars for Israel and an avalanche of pop-culture filth.
The two are not wholly unrelated.

That is a protocol. The TCP/IP method of transmitting bits was invented in the U.S. for DARPA by Bolt, Baranek and Newman Inc. Before the World Wide Web there were (and still are) other protocols, such as FTP.

Very well put, but I have a few to add:

I hate how so many Americans blame the troops (who are sent overseas) for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
I hate how some Americans get all their information off of bogus websites and stupid talk shows.
I hate the views of "beautiful" in America (and in most other industrialized nations).
I hate it that the average high school student in America learns so little about our past and the way our government works, that they will not be able to keep the torch lit for generations to come.
I hate how the laws favor the fat, lazy, crooked incumbents already in government and make it hard for new people with new ideas to get into any real positions of power.
I hate the ignorance of today's teens, those who don't get it that there are people who don't have the means to go tanning every week, or get a brand-new car for their 16th birthday, and that some people aren't "normal."

Why can't we all just agree that it isn't Americans we hate, it's the American Middle Class?
