There's nothing wrong with being gay! It's been well documented in over 400 species of animals, after all (including some adorable penguins).

Some animals are also cannibals. :?

Some people and cultures already practice cannibalism anyway!

Animals are also incestuous.

Not saying being gay is wrong, but comparison to animals is (IMO) not a good argument.

Why is it not a good argument? Are we not animals? Last I checked we were primates. Just because we've added the veneer of rationality and civilisation doesn't mean we don't have anything in common.

Homophobia's illogical to me. I see only emotion behind it. No logic.

The quote given by Androidraptor is intended to suggest that if people think that homosexual interactions are wrong in any way, then what these 400 (what I read was 500+) species of animals do is also "wrong," as though they have a sense of "wrong" and "right."

What some people seem to forget is that sexuality encompasses a whole lot more than reproduction of the species. Integral to sexual interaction is the social interaction and power plays between two entities, and those kinds of interactions happen all the time, human and nonhuman. Homosexual interactions are also very social, and do involve power plays (e.g. dominance and submission), just as heterosexual interactions are. If people think that homosexuality is somehow not natural, or it's somehow wrong, then are these 500+ species suddenly not natural? All the organisms committing such acts are suddenly now mentally deviant??

As a more direct response to BazzaMcKenzie's post:
When it comes to behavior, you might be trying to suggest that it would not be appropriate to say, "animals do it, so that makes it ok for humans to do it too." I would argue, it WOULD be ok to do it, so long as such actions do not destroy society. The question is, does homosexuality destroy society? Hardly!

Its a very important argument. People are always saying Homosexuality is unnatural. The very fact that it occurs in the natural world proves otherwise.

On a wider not,the naturality of it all is irrelevent. So much of modern is not natural in any way shape or form. Why pick on Gay folk?

While you may be referring to homosexual perverts or perveted homosexuals - Perverts are not also known as gays or vice versa.

PERVERT
1. to affect with perversion.
2. to lead astray morally.
3. to turn away from the right course.
4. to lead into mental error or false judgment.
5. to turn to an improper use; misapply.
6. to misconstrue or misinterpret, esp. deliberately; distort: to pervert someone's statement.
7. to bring to a less excellent state; vitiate; debase.
8. Pathology. to change to what is unnatural or abnormal.
9. to convert or persuade to a religious belief regarded as false or wrong.
–noun
10. a person who practices sexual perversion.
11. Pathology. a person affected with perversion.
12. a person who has been perverted, esp. to a religious belief regarded as erroneous.

HOMOSEXUAL
1. of, pertaining to, or exhibiting homosexuality.
2. of, pertaining to, or noting the same sex.
–noun
3. a homosexual person.

Of course, I am making an assumption that the topic referred to is to do with sexual orientation rather than the older definiton of well...carefree.

If we are looking at things being right or wrong soley on what is stastically normal then Aspies are wrong and should be punished. True or False?

Btw, do you think having blond(e) hair is wrong and people should be punished for such sodomy?
They're both caused by a reccesive gene.

This is one of my problems with how the bible is interpreted. I agree that everyone should read the Bible. (Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth) However anyone can justify anything by quoting a specific verse in the Bible. It’s important to get the “Big” picture and not get stuck on something. The funny thing about the “gay” being an abomination is that it’s only referenced a few times in the Bible. Most of that time it’s in referenced to rape, not consensual sex. (Except for Leviticus 18:22) The Bible also states that we should stone our children to death for lying or stealing and that we should sell our daughters to slavery and not eat shellfish. I doubt that most Christians would abide by those references.

For the record I am Christian and heterosexual. I have a hard time believing that someone is condemned for being gay, something that exists in nature of every mammal in existence on this planet. Being gay is something that is biological and is not a learned behavior. Should someone that is born without the ability to speak be condemned because they can’t pray out loud to God? Of course not. According to many Christians (especially the Baptist) anyone not Christian are also condemned. I have a big problem with this; saying that person born in a Hindu society is condemned even though they live a life with morals and in essence a good person, even by Christian standards. Saying they are condemned because that don’t believe in Jesus is in itself an abomination as far as I’m concerned. This same level of thinking of how a anti-gay Christians seem to think. Very flawed in my opinion. I think most of the time, people who are anti-gay are against it because they don’t understand it and are afraid of it. It’s easier to condemn what you are afraid of instead of understanding it. (Salem Witch trials seem to come to mind here.) This brings up another problem I have with some Christians. What gives them the right to condemn someone anyway? Since these are the same ones that go strictly by Bible verses, I argue that in the Bible it says only God can do that.

My favourite is Leviticus 19:19, which reads:
" 'Keep my decrees.
" 'Do not mate different kinds of animals.
" 'Do not plant your field with two kinds of seed.
" 'Do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material.

So my polyester-cotton-blend t-shirt is going to damn me for eternity. :D

please explain to me why being yourself is wrong? it isn't there faults that they were born a homosexual. just like it isn't our faults that we were born with aspergers. not every homosexual is a pervert. yes, the bible says it's wrong, but the bible also says to love your neighbor as yourself.

I've known wonderful gay people, I had to question my own sexuality to find out where I lie.

Still I prefer to see sexuality as a spectrum, everyone lieing somewhere between gay and straight but no one really being completely one or the other.

If you didn't at least remotely like your own sex you would never be able to understand yourself.

The Parliament of South Africa has just voted to legalize gay marriage. This makes it the fifth country in the world to do so, after Spain, The Netherlands, Belgium, and Canada.

I can agree with this; in fact, studies have shown that it isn't possible to be 100% hetersexual. All humans contain parts male and female in them, whether physical or mental, and thus have an attraction to both genders.

That being said, I'll still never understand homosexual sex. I understand gays marrying, and I can understand needing a physical component to support Platonic love, but I see sex as a means to an end: the process by which life is preserved and continued. Why do it if it won't produce a child? And if your sex drive is really that strong, why can't you "relieve" yourself? It just doesn't make sense to me. But hey, I'm just some teenager.

Oh, and just because I can, Bible isn't an abbreviation. It might seem cute to treat it as such, but it's just not; rather, it is the English form of the Greek Biblios, meaning "book". The translators thought so highly of the thing, they gave it a name like THAT.
