Or paying off one of his cronies. Of course, Bush's cronies were largely defense contractors and oil companies, so paying off his cronies could have collateral effects of killing people or harming the environment.
And I'm sure I'm not the only one who burst into uncontrollable laughter on reading the line "at least President George W. Bush didn't violate the law whenever he felt like it." Now we have conclusive proof that Inuyasha is indeed a satirist. Sort of a less clever but more convincing version of Stephen Colbert.

Yes. Colbert has true gravitas. Colbert doesn't bore his viewers with endless internet links and copy-and-paste arguments. He simply shines his light and strikes fear into the hearts his ideological opponents.

Actually, I saw a study a while back that found a surprising number of conservatives didn't realize that Colbert was satire. And some of them who realized that he was being satirical wanted so hard to believe that he was actually conservative that they made up elaborate scenarios about him only pretending to be satirizing the right while secretly agreeing with the positions he spends every weeknight mocking.
The takeaway message is: conservatives don't understand satire. At all. Conservatives as a group on average are probably worse at sarcasm than I am, and I'm autistic.

I don't understand why Americans vote for either party. Both are equally responsible for the problems which the country faces, yet everyone would rather divide into two camps and sling mud at the other faction.
Should America ever fall as a country, the epitaph will read 'Well it wasn't OUR fault'.

Quit lying and actually read the article.
Seriously, I'm not lying. If you actually look at the wording you can tell what the attitude of the individual whom wrote the piece was. It was an elitist attitude.
Hilarity like the exchange you just participated in is a significant part of why "liberal elitists" have that sort of attitude towards you and people like you.
Seriously, the guy spent almost the entire article criticizing his own worldview and political allies while defending groups with values very different from his own. The slams on Republicans in the first paragraph or two were included to prove a point about the mislabeling he was criticizing.
I don't know if you actually just skimmed the article, got bored halfway through, or simply have terrible reading comprehension. In any case, the resulting couple pages of arguments against completely imagined attacks was highly amusing.
i blame the thread title. he didn't click it anticipating an actual attempt at understanding. it says "what makes people vote republican?" but it reads: "this is what's wrong with people who vote republican." the problem is language. the same barriers that prevent any native english speaker from adequately describing anything without ascribing intent cause "what makes" in conjunction with "people (do something opposed to associated persona's known ideology)" to sound like a diagnosis. a pretentious one, at that.
this thread blows my mind.
i remember when i first saw this guy's ted talk and i really felt like he'd just put my liberal ass in it's place. i kinda thought he was being pretentious, equating liberalism with "openness to experience" but this is a pretty solid example.
really disappointing, if you ask me.

we don't perceive that we have alternate options.
seriously, the number of signs with a candidates name on them stuck in fences at intersections is a deciding factor in our elections. we're that bad at this.
hope for an AI takeover.
at this point, most of us would settle for zombies.

Satire is a liberal art; conservatives generally like puns.

Seriously, you want to explain the FCC trying to go around congress to regulate the internet in order to attempt to shut down free speech.
The Republicans that voted for the Copyright whatever concerning the Internet are likely to be beaten in Republican primaries come 2012, the Democrats that voted for the measure will have to be kicked out of office in the general. The reason is that the far left IS THE DEMOCRAT PARTY.

Orwell, if you paid attention to the wording you'd get a feel for the guy's actual intent and it is not criticizing his own world view. It is an article about the general public being so stupid that the "intelligent" people have to trick them into giving the "intelligent" people power cause the masses don't know what's best for them. In short, it is an elitist hit piece on Republicans and the General Public.
I may be on the spectrum (and I think you are too), but I probably know a lot more about how to read figures of speech, and ascertaining motives of Neurotypicals than you do.

I don't know if you have terrible reading comprehension, but quite frankly I don't. You can sometimes tell a person's attitude, where they are from, etc. from the words they select, their grammar, etc. based on their writing (in this case typing style). In this case, the wording the man uses indicates that this writer feels that the masses are too stupid to understand the Democrats' brilliance. In short, he is an elitist. If that isn't actually how he feels than his choice of wording was unusually bad for someone of his profession.

The choice of wording throughout the piece indicates an elitist attitude, it isn't simply the title, nor is it just the first paragraph (which by itself is a good indicator). There are key words throughout the piece that indicates the man's actual beliefs on the situation, which corroborates my assertions that he is a left-wing elitiest. Due to the profession this man is supposedly in, I sincerely doubt it was merely a poor choice in wording.

excellent example of that exemplary reading comprehension.
your chalk-board skills are astounding.

You can stop with the sarcasm...
On Thursday, the Senate Judiciary Committee unanimously approved a bill that would give the Attorney General the right to shut down websites with a court order if copyright infringement is deemed “central to the activity” of the site — regardless if the website has actually committed a crime. The Combating Online Infringement and Counterfeits Act (COICA) is among the most draconian laws ever considered to combat digital piracy, and contains what some have called the “nuclear option,” which would essentially allow the Attorney General to turn suspected websites “off.”
http://www.wired.com/epicenter/2010/11/ ... ship-bill/
So let's see, come up with a bogus case of Fox News committing copyright infringement, get a far-left judge whom has serious ethical issues and tada they can shut down the Fox News website. This is despite the fact, that it is a violation of due process.
Furthermore the article continues...
Scholars, lawyers, technologists, human rights groups and public interest groups have denounced the bill. Forty-nine prominent law professors called it “dangerous.” (pdf.) The American Civil Liberties Union and Human Rights Watch warned the bill could have “grave repercussions for global human rights.” (pdf.) Several dozen of the most prominent internet engineers in the country — many of whom were instrumental in the creation of the internet — said the bill will “create an environment of tremendous fear and uncertainty for technological innovation.” (pdf.) Several prominent conservative bloggers, including representatives from RedState.com, HotAir.com, The Next Right and Publius Forum, issued a call to help stop this “serious threat to the Internet.”
http://www.wired.com/epicenter/2010/11/ ... ip-bill/2/
So we have the ACLU and conservative bloggers agreeing with each other, which in itself is an indicator that people should be on full alert about this bill.
Further you have an argument on both sides concerning "net neutrality."
http://www.pcworld.com/article/169100/a ... ality.html
Anyways, corporations that try to censor sites can end up getting sued, good luck sueing the Federal Government.
The Democrats and the Left in General like to use code words like: fairness doctrine, net neutrality, etc. What they are really saying is censorship to silence conservatives so that only the Left Wing's message gets out.
