Some militias (probably a minority) would actually qualify more as some sort of a hunting club than an actual militia. While other militias are made up of mental cases. They can be on both sides of the political spectrum (yeah there are actually left-wing militia groups out there). If someone says they are in a militia I would be rather concerned, seriously if you want to be part of a civilian defense force join the National Guard.

The majority of gun owners are actually decent individuals, however there are a few crackpots out there that have a few screws loose.

The national guard isn't a civilian defense force. If by that you mean a defense force made up of civilians. As for your other comments, a militia doesn't actually have to be in an extreme part of the spectrum making these comments inane your apparent concern is unjustifiable.

@Dox47

I regularly browse through old forums and, quite frankly, I've been on this site long enough to know of your many antics. I've been to the "Wrong Planet is Wrong" blog before and find it rather amusing.

And if you want the censures of you (which you label "harassment") to stop, cease poking people in the eye. And don't pretend you're on some "high road". The only suitable way I've found to deal with the self-important, moralistic condemnations from hypocrites is to rhetorically up the ante. The glee over BigK's exit was, quite frankly, more then I could take.

Problem is it seems to be the minority of them that are rational and more like hunting clubs.

It doesn't have to be logical for people to get nervous about something. Especially when you hear about the nutty variety of militias quite often. Not saying I wouldn't lose my unease about people in a militia if I knew them and knew what they are actually about, but I still am one to be cautious because I know people on the Spectrum can be extremely naive at times.

I wouldn't be as concerned about gun clubs, as I would about a group calling itself a militia.

I'm saying that there are militia groups out there that aren't nutcases out for anarchy or some other overthrow the government with violence. However, they are few and far between, so yes at first glance you should be nervous if someone says they are in a militia.

That is not the limit of what a militia is for. Once again you assume the majority of his fanbase is going to go all rebel alliance without cause. Rebellions don't just happen because of what might happen Pedant they happen because drastic change is needed.(or because of what is or has happened)

He's thinking of the Obama spending spree the attempts to wreck jobs and the situation with Obama's ties to ACORN. How about you actually watch a few weeks of his program then do your own research.

Just as I see your knowledge of what goes on in the United States is extremely limited.

You know the oil drilling ban was put in place 3 times despite 2 Federal Courts shooting it down. That doesn't seem pro-business to me, oh the money going to that drilling platform near Brazil.

You read that headline correctly. Unfortunately, the Obama Administration is financing oil exploration off Brazil.

The U.S. is going to lend billions of dollars to Brazil's state-owned oil company, Petrobras, to finance exploration of the huge offshore discovery in Brazil's Tupi oil field in the Santos Basin near Rio de Janeiro. Brazil's planning minister confirmed that White House National Security Adviser James Jones met this month with Brazilian officials to talk about the loan.

And yes I know part of the deal started with Bush, just found it interesting he continued it.

Yes I know that it is a blog and the people may have an ax to grind, but they are the people losing their jobs.

Hmmm, George Soros again will you look at that...

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,595122,00.html

Read it, if you don't believe Beck on this go through each point and start googling it. Also consider this, if Glenn Beck has been lieing, why hasn't he been successfully sued by Soros?

The plausible reasons one would form a militia seem to be...

1) Perpetual guard over the threat that a tyrannical government could form.
2) Desire to go out shooting every weekend and a strong case of nostalgia over the War of Independence.
3) The belief that there is an immediate threat posed by the current government.
4) As a vigilante group that forms in response to the decline in various police department budgets.

Now, groups 1 & 3 are susceptible to being stirred to action over heated, conspiratorial rhetoric coming from "even mainstream conservatives". There is a horribly large subset of militia groups that actually believe various conspiracies theories.

Obama did donate a few billion to said Brazillian Oil Company, and yes George Soros is an investor in said oil company. I really don't want to take the time to go finding the sources to back up each individual sentence. I will tell you the commercial breaks have been cut out.

Whats your point? They still aren't going to start shooting people out of hand. Also there is no evidence(or at least you have provided none) to support your last claim. Also if they where so susceptible to action what actions have they been stirred too? What organized militia violence has been done?

Didn't you accuse me of being some sort of hypocritical forum vigilante recently?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Censure
wikipedia wrote:
Censure (pronounced /ˈsɛnʃər/) is a process by which a formal reprimand is issued to an individual by an authoritative body. In a deliberative assembly, a motion to censure is used.

Since you're not an authoritative body, or even an individual in a position of any power here, the notion of you "censuring" me is patently false. What you have done is launch repeated attacks upon my intentions, my motives, my character and my intelligence, out of topic and in a way that does nothing to advance the topics under discussion. You've even gone out of your way to take potshots at me in thread in which I wasn't participating, that's not even close to "censuring", that's a grudge plain and simple.

When I criticize you or anyone else for things like gratuitous use of framing or loaded language or overgeneralizing, the evidence is right there for anyone to see in the quoted post, what you've done is try to take me out of context or misconstrue my statements in such a way as to discredit or embarrass me as a person and as a poster on this board. I've stopped responding in any meaningful way to your more overwrought efforts, so you attack me for not rising to the bait to your satisfaction. Again, you can't cloak that in deceptive terms as you trying to "clean house" around here, especially when you excoriate me for what you see as me trying to police the forum, things just don't work that way.

As for BigK, I happen to have the link for the thread when you first floated this whole "gleeful" thing, the same one where multiple independent posters called BS on your (mis)interpretation of my words. Here, take a look:

http://www.wrongplanet.net/postp3119961.html#3119961

All of this fits my characterization of you as someone who's here to push and agenda and will do anything and justify any means to do so. Remember this:

http://www.wrongplanet.net/postp3135452.html#3135452

No need to clutter up the thread by reposting the whole thing, but the conclusion is rather apropos:

I added some bold for those in the tl;dr crowd.
Dox47 wrote:

Master_Pedant is not here to engage in discussion or debate, he is here to push an agenda through any means available to him.
To this end, he is willing (and willing to justify) using misleading framework, gross generalizations, and character assassination among other things.
He's shown himself eager to pursue vendettas against those who question him and go to great lengths to discredit them or damage their reputation.
He consistently baits those who he views as his ideological enemies, essentially trolling the forum with generalized attacks on groups with whom he disagrees.
He's unable to accept criticism of his worldview or even his presentation of it, and takes things personally when such criticism occurs.

In light of these observations, I feel no need to waste my time engaging with him any more than necessary to correct some of the more glaring errors and the constant egregious mischaracterizations of myself and others like me, hence my curt reply in this thread. I could care less what a bunch of polls of Republicans say, I'm not a Republican but will defend them when I think they're right, same as any other group or poster.

I wrote that coming up on a month and a half ago, thanks for making me look like a psychic.

Face the facts, people have become more Conservative because they've woken up and started to actually pay attention. The see the dream of socialism and the reality of Conservatism and found the dream the uglier of the two.

We've seen the Chicago Style Corruption Liberals bring when they have control of the Government.

The dream of socialism is uglier than the ugly plutocratic nightmare developing now?
