Still waiting to hear from a feminist-hating dude with a female significant other, btw.

My hypothesis is that men invented high heels to make women look helpless and silly. If you don't believe these are qualities men find attractive, see virtually all anime ever made.
Most women wear them in the belief that they make one's legs look longer and slimmer.

What about Serial Experiments Lain where the female protagonist is practically a Goddess. How is that helpless? Puella Magi Madoka Magica has several female main characters and only one of them comes across as helpless.

The women I have known have loved their heels. They say, "Don't mess with my pumps." They feel more confident and more attractive in them.

Its hard to tell apart from the good ones who want equality, and the bad ones who blame men for everything! Men do this men do that men are bad bla bla bla!

I don't particularly care for feminists and have had multiple longterm relationships, including being married, to a feminist. Shall I expect you to make similarly "clever" compensation jokes next time we have a gun thread?

This is usually a rough topic - we live in a society, our behavior is set by the average or demographic potentials of those around us, and we're forced to treat the societal arena much more like a war zone than we'd really like to. Seems like very few people want it that way but very few people can do a whole lot about it save live as safely as they can and keep their accusing body language toward those they don't know to a minimum. In other words for the rules we've set we're pretty much locked in with this until the rules change in some manner.

Seems like the rape culture will hit guys the hardest who 1) have body language or appearances that lend for a lot of prejudicial treatment and 2) come from the materialist persuasion that to be a biological failure is to be a failure in the most absolute sense of the word. I was dealing with both of these for a while, I've been able to correct this at least to where I'm just dealing with the first. Sadly in this world most people you will interact with will not know you, flash-judgement are made and people you'd remind them of will win out either in your favor or against. If that's a good thing you'll get a freer ride than you may even warrant. If it ways against you - sorry but you'll be swimming against the current likely for the rest of your life.

Anymore I try avoid focusing on people's isms - I just cross my fingers and hope that they're not contagious if I'm around them. IMHO one of the most massochistic things people can do to themselves is carry vitriol; if you've been wronged or a presently incorrigible problem in the way society does business has taken a major corner of expression out of your life (whether by racism, sexism, or even suppressed economic status) you're in a situation where what's been done to you has been done to you - it's the past its not your fault - but what happens from there forward, especially on an internal level, is what you do to yourself. What I mean more specifically is that 'they' can only take so much from you, if you look within or refuse to let them have your mind, heart, character, or dignity you can hold a defensible line - otherwise you give 'them' everything and at that point you really forced to just be a cog in a machine with other people naming your attributes and worth. It was a nightmare being at 'their' mercy which is why I pulled myself out of society's games to the best of my ability and forced myself to be the arbiter of my own value the best I could.

I'll admit that I'm not perfect on that, I still have plenty of times where I chew over a social faux pah for a day or more, but I have found that there are a far more transcendent aspects of being human than what a person's allowed to wear on their societal battle-armor. When you think about it most of us know this as kids we get screwed up either as our biologies change or as we get educated into living the problems of generations before us but its always kind of there in the background. It doesn't matter either how much people might try to minimize that or try to reduce us to animals and as animals say that if we're not chasing biological imperatives we're failing biological imperatives (geez...that's a real winning attitude), the later is just bankrupt and we can't make a society work on it.

I don't want to take this thread out too far on a philosophical or metaphysical limb but I really think our society is doing what it usually does - ie. make a caricature of whatever mistakes it hasn't made recently, just about searing its hand to the coil on the stove to know that its hot, and everyone's dragged along regardless of whether or not they know better. Whatever has us as a race feeling like we're stuck with this identity however - I really don't think material pessimism in the social sphere will hold up much longer as a base from which we deal with each other. I'm pretty sure we'll either be discovering that it's patently false or at least discovering that we have much greater maneuverability in our identity as a species than just resigning ourselves to meditate on our most base aspects.

Perhaps you missed my reply due to the fact it's right at the bottom of the previous page.

Indeed. Though I've become more accepting of the fact that childhood is a much longer process for some and try not to write anyone off completely.

A genuine hypothesis begins with trying to disprove your preconceptions, not confirm them.

It's pretty bizarre when you think about it.

The argument goes something like:

In the 'good old days' when women were repressed, they were also much less sexually experienced. So, they didn't have anyway to know when a penis was small because they had nothing to compare it to.

These days, liberated women are much more sexually experienced, so they know a small penis when see it (and don't feel it).

Therefore, guys with little dicks want their women repressed.

There probably is some truth to the idea that life was easier for 'wee ones' back when women were less sexually experienced. But, them's the breaks.

Concerning the idea that people are judged on the basis of appearance--it happens ALL THE TIME.

As a matter of fact, lookism is the last socially acceptable form of bigotry there is.

There are plenty of scientific studies that prove that short, dumpy, unattractive people make less money, are less happy, and live shorter lives...

That relates to feminism in that, while it happens to everyone, it affects women much, much more.

Them's the breaks, too.

People are biased, despicable bastards. Deal with it.

Source? Or do you personally have experience as having been both a woman and a man, thus claiming personal knowledge of their incommensurable thinking processes?

'Thinking' is a purely subjective experience, which can be described or modeled but cannot be directly observed. And you'd think in a forum like WP (heavily populated by persons with communications difficulties) the problems with building a theory of thought from communicative descriptions of thinking processes, absent other observations, would be obvious to all.

"Women don't think like men" is a non-disprovable statement. There may be plenty of evidence to support it, but in a world where pretty much everything is culturally indexed according to gender (more obvious in e.g. Romance languages where grammatical gender is much more prominent than English) you can find evidence to corroborate essentially any claim pertaining to gender; see apophenia.

Said synthesis would be weaker than my hypothesis on its own.

It is still irrelevant, then.

Why is that? (It's not your hypothesis by the way.)

This thread is a classic logic v. emotion argument.
There can be no resolution.

Some people believe they have a lack of power, and it terrifies them, which usually leads to anger, which usually leads to hate.

Some people think money = power and think that they're not well enough endowed. (or at all)
Some people think pen!s = power and think that they're not well enough endowed. (or at all)

So they throw screaming tear-filled tizzy-fits, which never seems to get them anywhere and makes everyone want to avoid them, then they feel abandoned and that's proof that everybody else is big meanies.

It's literally a self-esteem problem.

And you don't find it offensive to say that women are now promiscuous size queens because feminism? Perhaps it's true, I don't know since I was not alive back then but something tells me that some feminists wouldn't like that characterization.

I think it's pretty bizarre with the penis size attacks and probably reflects on the insecurities of the person saying it. Do you think you're more attractive to opposite sex because you agree with x talking point? To me it seems like some weird form of futile beta courtship. "Hey look, I'm a nice guy! Crush the Cis White Male Patriarchy! Please be with me!".

FWIW I'm pretty sure my life or beliefs wouldn't be much different with a 12 inch dick, I think it would probably look obscene and off putting to most people. I don't think random women would find me any more attractive and I don't think I'd all the sudden have an aversion to guns or anything. I'd say I'm pretty content with this aspect about myself. Thanks. :P
