That's completely wrong and totally misleading, but I'm going to assume it's an honest mistake. I'll restate what I said: the very spike I'm referring to was the crime rate in the 80s and 90s, which is where your graphs start. I did not say it was currently increasing. Don't misrepresent my argument.
Where did you state that the spike was the crime rate in 80s and 90s?
The argument I see often in the comment sections for race-based topics ...
Black males have higher testosterone levels.
Therefore, this causes higher aggression, less control, lower IQ, longer penis, explains their dominance in some physical sports, and higher prostate cancer rates.
The problem is that people who are getting killed who have done nothing to deserve it.
but what can YOU do about it? just sit back and waste your life pontificating and agonizing over philosophical principles?
it's always going to happen. you live for 100 years and the human race goes on from pillar to post after you are dead and gone, so it's really only how you live your life that is important.
unless you become some sort of activist who can attract media attention. but even that young pakistani girl (what's her name? mali?) who was trying to get improvements for female education became famous for a while because she was shot in the head and recovered and the worlds cameras were on her for a while.
then i noticed they tried to glamorize her and make her look pretty to improve her media image and then she kind of went out of world focus.
so she went far beyond what most people would experience in their lives, but still did not make a dent much.
anyway, i am not interested in politics or graphs of recent history, so i will let you all get on with it without further comment.
Well, it's a good way to pass the time.
Honestly, I'm bored as hell. You want to attack me that fine.
I guess what you are saying. It's kind of a waste of time, but I've got nothing better to do.
At least I have some connection to the world having opinions about things that matter. Maybe it makes me less likely to feel worthless, like I want to kill myself? I don't know. It is a waste of time but I'm bored as hell.
I used to not care at all about politics but now I realize that people are dying for no reason at all. At least I have a reason to talk about something even if I don't accomplish anything.
By the way, I wish people would focus on male violence. If you look at homicides, the majority are committed by males.
Females aren't always nice but they do kill people at a lower rate than males. Something to strive for. Actually just about all the crime rates other than prostitution are lower in females Why?
Why focus on black on black violence when we could be focusing on male on male violence? I'm being facetious but serious at the same time.
Black communities are beginning to lose confidence in the police:

They're actually not at all similar; blacks commit an insanely disproportionate amount of crime compared to EVERY other race, not just whites. But don't let those facts stop you.
The chart is not about the percent of total crime that whites commit compared to other races, it is showing how much of crime that is committed by whites is against other white people, compared to the crime committed by whites against other races.
I know. Most crimes are intraracial. I never disagreed with that, so I don't know why this is being continually brought up, other than because people are failing to see the point I'm making.
As I said in my response to Sweetleaf, what's so shocking about black crime is not that the majority of the victims are also black. What's shocking is the rate at which they are killing/getting killed. That is the number I'm talking about when I'm saying it's insanely higher, I'm talking about the raw numbers of violent crimes (and crime in general) coming from the black community, and not only towards other blacks.
Well where is the news coverage on this shocking rate at which black people specifically are killing/getting killed? Though if there is such a shocking rate of constant violent crime among black people wouldn't that show maybe there are some social issues that need addressing to try to bring this shocking number down, and by addressing I don't mean people assuming black people are more violent/likely to be criminals and cops racially profiling people and immediately treating black people and other minority groups as dangerous criminals and using a shoot first, think later policy. What is wrong in these communities contributing to violence? somehow I don't think the answer would be 'well, there's a high number of blacks and they're just more violent by default.' How people can pretend that kind of thinking isn't racism I don't know.
Just not sure how police treating black people or minorities as potential violent criminals based simply on skin color/ethnic features is supposed to reduce crime. "
"Hey someone who shares your ethnicity is a violent criminal, therefore it is safer to assume you are to." I mean it is kind of a stupid way to think...should I assume white people are most likely to be mass shooters and serial killers because most I know of have been white?

Can you blame them? I've seen plenty of videos and read plenty of accounts of discriminatory treatment from police...how can you have confidence in police who are more likely to shoot you than help you. Just saw one where apparently some girl was hit by a car and for whatever reason refused medical treatment...perhaps she was concerned of the cost of an ambulance and going to an E.R for entirely non-life threatening injuries. Either way instead of the police maybe helping her get home, they roughly grab at her get her all worked up and afraid to the point she's screaming for help clearly in panic and then pull her arms behind her in what appears to be a pretty painful rough manner and start trying to slap handcuffs on her. Somehow I just don't think they would have done that to a white girl. Looked more like a freaking kidnapping than an arrest.

It's on the news every day, I assume it's usually just on local news reporting individual cases. I haven't seen any mainstream media coverage of the issue as a whole. But when it comes to news media, there are plenty of massive issues that are heavily underreported considering their significance, and likewise there are tiny issues that get blown out of proportion all the time.
Like I said, it really comes down to cultural attitudes and the disintegration of the black family. Yes, of course these are social problems, not genetic problems. People often assume that generalizing about black people to point out an issue (e.g. "blacks commit more crimes per capita than any other race") is equivalent to saying "all blacks..." (e.g. "all blacks are inherently criminal"). The implication, of course, is that the person who brought up the issue and criticized black people (specifically black criminals), is somehow a racist, for simply pointing out a problem, one that mostly harms black people.
This is what has happened to me on here, many, many times. It seems it can't be avoided, because even if I deny I'm racist and challenge them to find something actually racist that I said, they'll just respond by calling me a "secret racist". It's just a witch hunt, and they think they've found a racist witch. No matter what I say, they are determined to force a confession out of me, and ultimately to burn me at the stake. Figuratively I hope, but the way things are going in America and the West in general, it doesn't seem too far off.
"Hey someone who shares your ethnicity is a violent criminal, therefore it is safer to assume you are to." I mean it is kind of a stupid way to think...should I assume white people are most likely to be mass shooters and serial killers because most I know of have been white?
Police treat pretty much everyone as potential criminals, but at the same time, some people are seen as smaller or larger threats. It is only logical to do this. It's obvious when comparing a young male to a grandma that this makes sense, but it is harder to see when comparing a young white male to a young black male, because we are programmed to think bringing up race in such a negative context must be akin to racism.
However, it still makes sense to make these kinds of judgements based on race, because when judging potential threats to your life and others' lives, you are going to make sure that you factor in any relevant information. Murder and violent crime statistics are extremely relevant information.
No, of course they shouldn't just assume a person is dangerous because they're black, but this simply is not happening, despite what BLM would have you believe. No cop is just shooting at every black person he sees because he assumes black skin = threat. Going down the list, almost every shooting case used as an example of police racism was not portrayed even close to accurately in the media. The few others are cases where the officer was convicted of murder, or where evidence was inconclusive.
Michael Brown, for example, robbed a store, assaulted the officer and tried to take his gun, and was shot while moving towards the officer and refusing to follow his orders. The facts have been out, this was all corroborated by autopsy results and several eyewitness accounts. Yet BLM still runs with the "Hands up, don't shoot!" narrative, calling Brown a "gentle giant", and of course calling the police officer a racist, despite Brown's obvious criminal and violent behavior towards the officer and others around him.
Police officers who kill someone that refuses to follow orders, resists arrest, and behaves erratically or violently, are not just assuming their skin color is what makes them a threat; it's their behavior they find threatening, and rightfully so. These are the vast majority of cases.
I know I'm going to get crap for this, but racial profiling really isn't wrong. In fact, it is a natural and logical thing to do. If you see a pitbull roaming the street, you're probably going to profile it as more dangerous than if it was a chihuahua, because it is statistically a much larger threat, and adjust your behavior accordingly. It might be a nice, non-aggressive pitbull, yes, but that doesn't mean you should assume that it is, for obvious reasons.
I know some of you might see my analogy and say, "You think black people are comparable to dogs! We caught you saying it, you racist!" No, it's actually just an analogy.

They are more criminally inclined, that's what the statistics show. Blacks are more likely to commit crimes than whites, or any other race. I have no problem saying this. But did I say I think it's genetic, or that I think it's all of them? No, I never said or even hinted at that, nor do I believe it, but I assume that does not matter to you. You have already assumed I am a racist, and you are trying to spin everything I say as if it proves I'm a racist.

There are plenty of articles and data available, it's just not something the mainstream media tends to be interested in. I can think of a number of reasons why that would be, but lack of marketability is likely a prominent factor.
Yes, it does show there are social issues which need to be addressed. It begins with acknowledging the problem. One oft cited social factor which might prove difficult to resolve is the high number of single-parent children in many black communities. In Cook County, 2003, 79% of black babies were born to single mothers. A disproportionate number of incarcerated juveniles in the US (and elsewhere) are from single-parent homes.
Black people are more likely to be criminals in the US, but that statistic in and of itself is completely absent prejudice. I'll assume you were being hypothetical with the racial profiling/shoot first comment, as that is completely unsupported by statistics.
That depends what you mean by "default".
I gave one example of a social factor that is a likely contributor. What solutions can you offer for that particular problem?
As pointed out by L_Holmes, police interaction with the public tends to be crime-related and they therefore view the majority of those they come into contact with as potentially violent criminals. Protecting the safety of themselves and others makes that a necessity.
That's not how law enforcement - and in particular, profiling - works. Nor, I believe, is it how anyone taking part in this conversation thinks - with the notable exception of ResilientBrilliance who believes it appropriate to to label a white rapist as the "peer" of another white person, purely by measure of melanin.

He isn't, but you appear to be.
And just how do you figure that?

A great deal of those crimes blacks are arrested for are drug related. In fact, whites use drugs in equal numbers in comparison to blacks, but you simply don't see the police presence in white neighborhoods as you do in black areas. I've known plenty of whites who have been drug users, and only one of them, my brother-in-law, had ever been arrested for it, and that's because my brother-in-law is an idiot who didn't show up for a court date that happened to fall on his birthday. So when the cops did arrest him, they found pot in his car (this being prior to pot legalization here in Washington). Dismiss drug crimes from the high percentage of black crime, and I think you'll find alleged black criminality to be far less extreme.
