theyre doing JUST well enough. theres nowhere saying that the goal for humanity is for everyone to watch tv all day, browse the internet, and roll in riches.
the countries i listed are tip-top, on an overall scale.

fuzzy, yes my "tip-top" is compared to so many other countries on this planet, that have it much much worse, such as sudan, north korea, somalia

B9, the details of the complaints may change, but what you have described is basically what has happened nearly every time a large new immigrant group arrives in a country. There is always a clash of cultures and expectations, especially when there is a perceived unfair distribution of assets. You could have been talking about me driving through a slum part of town; a few years ago, I would have said I was seeing the same thing. So what is the source of the things you are seeing? The religion, the ethneticity? Or poverty? Or unfamiliarity? Or the pain of assimilating values? I don't believe it is inherent to the faith or to the people. I believe it comes from the situation.

You are a muslim if you choose to live under certain islamic rules and believe in islamic goals. One goal of Islam is a peaceful society in which law, justice, the state and religion are one and the same system; knowa as sharia. Just google islamic rules to have a peek what you could or could not do within such a society.

I myself believe in seperate systems for religion and government, other that that I am more of an individualist that a community-type person. i also believe that people should be controlled less, not more therefore I am not a Muslim.

This does't mean i disagree with most Muslim goals, just some. I believe our western world has gone a bit to far in for example egocentrism, equality between genders and kapitalism, Muslims agree with me on those issues.

I'm not certain about Islam but Christians don't choose to be Christians, they are Christians, this being because they hear the call of Christ, so to speak. The capacity to pick and choose one's god/s or faith is a feature of paganism (and the New Age-wishy washy eastern philosophy Capitalist equivalent), there are probably a lot of christians on the forum none of whom, i imagine, would be able to truthfully say "well, i weighed up the pro's and con's of each faith, past history, what you put in, what you get out and decided the best package for me was X, Y, Z". Rather, at some point the very core of their being has identified with the sacrifice of Christ and exercise fidelity to this event throughout their lives.

Yeah but all the other groups in western society behave so well! They don't kill, steal, rape, or blow up buildings and go on shooting rampages! They especially would never do such things and then say it was ok because the victims didn't believe as they do.
