This recession was caused by government forcing banks to make loans to people the banks knew couldn't afford it.

This is incorrect, this is what I hate about this forum, amateurs spouting off about s**t they know nothing about as if they knew something.

First there are sunk costs of training/education and the lack of ease of moving from one job to the next especially in a specialized society, then there is the fact that if corporations aren't spending/investing the government will have to goad the private sector or fill in that function to create jobs to avoid revolutionary conditions. Then there is the fact that automation replaces jobs. Jobs just don't appear "magically" this whole magical thinking on behalf of free market supporters is just delusional.

They are already floating ideas in the Senate where I live about guaranteed income supplement for the poor to help give them the capital to pull themselves out of poverty.

There are all sorts of problems and complexities of which you are completely ignorant. There is a bunch of data showing long-term unemployment going up and cutting benefits is just a recipe to accelerate political upheaval. After the bail of the banks you're going to start radicalizing the population.

There are some, shall I say, interesting comments in this thread. Nazi revisionism is, well, garbage. The Nazis were among the most evil regimes in history. I agree it's a tossup between Hitler and Stalin as to who was worse, especially since Stalin killed so many of his own people. But to say that Americans treated German prisoners as bad as the Nazis treated the Jews, that is insane talk.

We are lucky in the USA and Britain that some who are unable to work are not left to die. Who's to say but that one of those people may contibute something that helps humanity: some scientific breakthrough, work or art, or whatever. I don't think we can count on charities to assist all those who need help.They couldn't afford to even if they wanted to.

I am not an expert on politics or finances, but from what I've heard the gap between the very rich and the rest of society is greater by several orders of magnitude than it has ever been in history, and it is getting bigger. That does not seem right or fair.

This as already been shown to be a complete load of crap. Why do you keep on repeating it?

The current depression is ultimately caused by the cumulative effects of corporate outsourcing. The bubble markets that were cushioning us from the full brunt of the effects of globalization for the past 20 years have now expired.

Indeed, I clearly must have slept through the part of history when the prime minister of my country put a gun to the people in charge of hedge funds and told them to buy toxic assests from the americain housing market or else.

World economics, the greatest "lets pretend" game ever played in history and anyone alive is a player.

So let me get this straight. ACORN, an organisation brought down by Drudge's assistant and a fake pimp and prostitute, this organisation twisted the arms of the banks that are allowed to seize homes without the proper papers, whose people control the financial policies of the administrations under recent presidencies, that committed massive fraud and not one of their people is in prison or even charged with a crime, that continue to receive tens of billions of dollars for free... ACORN was able to bend the banks to its will? Can any serious person believe such a fantastic story?

I mean just look at the facts - how easily ACORN was crushed, how the banksters run the country and remain above the law and get uncounted amounts of free money... how can anyone believe such a thing? It's madness. It's typical of the American Right. They after all don't see themselves as part of the Reality-Based Community as a matter of pride.

Because its not "the Jews", its just a small ruling elite that are not real Jews anyway, Jesus calls them in Revelation Chapter 2 and 3, those who call themselves Jews but are not Jews but are of the Synagogue of Satan. These are people like the Rothschilds who said "Give me control of a the issue of a nations money, and it matters not who make the laws.

The same people who blocked Hitlers sceme to remove all the Jews from Germany, with the result millions of good and innocent Jews died in the work camps, behind these sacrifices, the ruling elite bankers whom you chose to defend, made a hell of a lot of money and more importantly got the UN to give them half of Palestine, meanwhile they hide behind the emotional cloat of a Jewish Holocaust to commit crimes against Palestine and the world and to bring the name of Israel and the Jewish people into disrepute for thier own selfish gains.

Quite why any Jew would want to defend such people purely because they label themselves with the name Jew is beyond me, I would recommend following Gods advice in the Bible that he gives his people, (Jews), in these times.

All through history, many many innocent Jews have suffered persecution through the actions of a very small percentage of Jews, will you join them by defending them, or condemn them and help improve the rapidly declining image of Judaism?
