Political shifts since the 2008 Reccession
The dream of socialism = a no freedom dictatorship in which Government controls everything which is that plutocratic nightmare you are referring to. We need to get back to our roots, not give in to the poison of socialism.
This problem started under Jimmy Carter. Liberals in congress, like Barnie Franks, Barack Obama (when he was a senator), stopped attempts by people like John McCain from fixing the problem. Seriously, do some research before you make wild accusations.

The answer, of course, is that it was government policy for these poor quality loans to be made. Since the early 1990s, the government has been attempting to expand home ownership in full disregard of the prudent lending principles that had previously governed the U.S. mortgage market. Now the motives of the GSEs fall into place. Fannie and Freddie were subject to "affordable housing" regulations, issued by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), which required them to buy mortgages made to home buyers who were at or below the median income. This quota began at 30% of all purchases in the early 1990s, and was gradually ratcheted up until it called for 55% of all mortgage purchases to be "affordable" in 2007, including 25% that had to be made to low-income home buyers.

Government caused the mess, I provided sourcing to back up my statements you provided squat.
Stop drinking the kool-aid.
For the love of God, stop using that phrase on everyone with opinions divergent from your own. I've seen you fling that phrase around carelessly at least a half-dozen times in other threads, always to discredit someone with whom you disagree. You use it so much, it's become a predictable empty platitude. We get it, you think of the government and media (save for Fox News, of course) as Jim Jones, and all the rest of us as blind, dumb rubes who've been seduced by him. Do you realize how incredibly condescending and insulting that is?
My explanation for the recent crisis is far more plausible than the one that says that a group destroyed by Andrew "Hear our cry Obama" Breitbart and James "Telephone Repair-man/pimp" O'Keefe somehow twisted the arms of the banks(!) and forced them to lend to untrustworthy dark people and that this torpedoed the economy.

Yes. The deregulatory neo-liberal policies (i.e. government provides market "incentives" to banks to play fair rather than actively regulating against abuses) of the Clinton administration are partially responsible, along with good old-fashioned Wall Street greed. Attacks on Clinton-era deregulation fail as indictments of the left. I'm not going to defend Slick Willey just because he was a Democrat.

I heard Limbaugh use that phrase in the video someone posted elsewhere which emphasizes to me that he repeats what he hears and doesn't actually think about it for himself.

I'll stop using the phrase when you quite honestly stop drinking the kool-aid. Right now I'm working on a 15 page paper in a totally different subject, the reason I'm taking the time to even post about this is cause I'm extremely worried about what is going on in this country.
I want to have kids some day, but I want them to be able to enjoy the freedoms I have been able to enjoy.
I don't think you are stupid, I do think you are being mislead. It is possible even for an intelligent person to be mislead.

According to you, everyone who disagrees with you, including people of all political stripes from all around the world; basically all people who are not as far to the right as you are, "drinking the kool-aid". And you think the left is arrogant and elitist?
