Why are there laws against paedophilia?
Is is illegal to be attracted to prepubescent children? Where do you live?
Were they diagnosed as paedophiles? How many of them you know? How do you tell that certain person is a paedophile? Do you think the person will tell you it (if you consider public opinion about paedophiles)?
Paedophiles generally defined how? As child molesters? That's not a good definition. I think paedophiles defined as people, who are sexually attracted to prepubescent children, usually care what children want. Do you think that gynecophiles usually don't care about what women want?
I'm not sure what you are on about with the pedophilia there, but you should know AspieRogue likes to make up definitions and statistics as he goes along before inevitably suggesting that preventative butt rape is the best solution

Like I said, sex with underage persons is against the law in my country. And furthermore, if the underage person is prepubescent that charge is usually sexual assault in the first degree rather than statutory rape. So people who are sexually attracted to children are well aware that acting on their desires is breaking the law. What makes you think that such people DO care what children want when it comes to sex? Are YOU a pedophile as defined?
Also, while there isn't a specific law that I know of that criminalizes sexual feelings towards children, it is de facto illegal because a person who expresses these desires verbally will be placed immediately under police surveillance and by probable cause they will be treated as a suspect. Also, possession of child pornography IS a crime in the US and carries a prison term. So AFAIC, as well as the rest of society is concerned, anyone who sexually abuses or rapes a child is a pedophile as well as those who have ever shown strong sexual attraction towards children. I am not about to go around insinuating that so-and-so is a pedophile unless there is evidence that they molested children.

I didn't talk about sex when i said that paedophiles usually care what children wants. I know some paedophiles (online, not in person) who love children and try to care more about them than about themselves. Except two they haven't had any sexual activity with children, usually because they don't want to hurt them and don't want to end in jail. I don't know much about one who had, I know the other one who abused two girls, but not against they will. When they refused to continue doing the sexual activity (after about a year), he stopped doing that even though it was hard for him. (Later he told it to his friend and his friend told it to police, so he ended in jail.) Also I know some sexologists say basically the same thing.
IMO certain US laws about sex and pornography are pretty stupid.
You see, now you admit that you don't know specific law that criminalizes sexual feelings towards children. I don't know what you mean by expressing desires verbally, but if you mean that saying you are attracted by children makes you being watched by police, and you're right, than the situation in US is worse than I thought.
It is not true that anyone who sexually abuses or rapes a child is a paedophile. Someone, who sexually abuse or rape a child is a sexual offender. Someone, who is primarily sexually attracted to prepubescent children is a paedophile regardless of what he shows.

The last sentence seems like an argument over semantics, because AFAIC if you have sex with a child then yes you ARE a pedophile. Furthermore jekenai, what makes you so certain that the one who had sex with girls did not do so against the girls will? Were you there to witness it? If not, why do you take that persons word for it that the girls 'wanted' it? Perhaps they didn't resist the first few times but then finally mustered the strength to say "no". Defend sex with children all you want, but there are many, many reasons why it's illegal and why it SHOULD be that way.

OK, please tell me where do i defend sex with children? Did i say that sex with children should be legal?
What makes me so certain? The guy wrote about it a pretty detailed story. He was judged for sexual activity with children, so it's possible to check it. The psychologist found no signs of trauma on those girls. He also admitted that he manipulated them, used their curiosity. I think it's perfectly possible that they were curious, then found more about it or just got older and wanted to stop doing that. Note that it wasn't penetrative sex.
And no, having sex with a child doesn't make you a paedophile as well as having sex with a man doesn't make you gay. Yes, it is argument over semantics, it's about the definition of word paedophile.
However we might define 'paedophile', having sex with a child should make you a criminal.

Just because he didn't penetrate those girls does Not mean that they wanted it or agreed to it!! ! The fact that he admitted to manipulating them pretty much is a dead giveaway that he used coercion. It's really not unreasonable to suspect him of LYING about those girls giving him permission and then telling them to lie to the psychologist. There have been documented cases of children being coached by adults whom they trust to lie in these situations. So that sick pedo-rapist you're talking about used the grooming technique to win the trust of those girls before he violated them for his own perverse pleasure. I do wonder if there actually was penetration, he just didn't ejaculate.
However we might define 'paedophile', having sex with a child should make you a criminal.
Seconded. I have no idea why jekenai is an apologist for adults who have sex with children. But for love of Pete I'm grateful that lawmakers refuse to listen to guys like that.
I'm going to just post this article as well as this wiki

I think being attracted to teenage girls is different from pedophilia. Liking 13 year olds is definitely creepy but a lot of 16, 17 year olds can pass for 19 or 20, it's not like I can help finding some of them good looking.
Men are biologically designed to think teenage girls look good, of course acting on it is different, though I'm only 22 and I'd definitely date a good looking 17 year old girl as long as it didn't upset her parents too much.
I think the fanatical kind of hate modern Americans have for pedophiles is pretty disturbing though, it's like a witch hunt angry village with pitch fork kind of reaction, people don't even get that angry about genocide. I could think of a lot more cruel things than child molestation, like severe physical abuse for one thing or of course killing somebody. I don't think pedophiles and rapists are necessarily more difficult to reform than murderers I think people just are less willing to forgive them because most people have probably felt like killing somebody before, on the other hand most people probably haven't had a sexual thought about a child so they feel more of a right to feel judgmental and righteous towards that specific brand of depravity.

Location: in my own little tamarillo jungle,
at that point though you arent talking clear cut pedophilia anymore,
there are plenty of places in the west where the age of consent is under 18 and even places where it is it is oftenignored between a 19 and a 17 year old for an example.

That's true, I wouldn't even say it's pedophilia at all. I personally would say if you find girls (or boys) under 14 sexually attractive you're a pedophile. Though say, a 50 year old and a 17 year old is definitely a bit of a creepy combo, even a 50 year old and a 23 year old is a bit odd to me considering it's a whole generation's difference.
Childhood sexual abuse is just as emotionally damaging to victims as physical abuse, if not more so. Rape causes post traumatic stress disorder, which for many is a lifelong condition of anguish and recurrent nightmares/flashbacks. It also screws up a persons ability to have healthy sexual relationships. So the hatred of pedophiles is justified as they are people who prey on the weak and violate them in the most intimate possible way.

A person of 15 might in fact be more mature than another person of 17. Say then that these two people were both in relationships with 19 year olds, and say that the age of consent was 16. Then the law might unfairly damage the relationship of the 15 year old while doing nothing to prevent the 17 year old from being exploited.
And then there is the culturally supremacist aspect. The age of consent in America and in other western countries is typically 16 or 17. But in China and Sierra Leone for example it is 14. This is simply sending out a thinly-disguised message that certain practices and by extension certain people (eg, people with too much melanin in their skin or with funny-shaped eyes) are not welcome here.
I am not saying that I have sexual relations with young teens myself, but I think you can see my point.
Well, why post this?

Quite honestly, they are very different for boys than they are for girls. Especially given that women have to cope with the bio/physiological consequences of sex whereas men really don't unless they contract a venereal disease. Most underage boys who have sex with adult women seldom regret it. In fact, if I had been offered sex as a teenager with an adult woman who I thought was sexy, well, quite frankly I would not have refused(though knowing me I'd have insisted that she supply me with a jimmy
I don't think that teen boys are 'overpowered' by their assailants; frequently, teen girls are not 'overpowered,' either, and participate enthusiastically. It's still statutory rape for a 15 year old to have sex with a 25 year old because the 15 year old isn't yet capable of understanding the consequences of their actions. If a 15 year old boy has unprotected sex with a 25 year old woman, do you really think he understands the significance of becoming a father?
Adults who prey on children often promise them everlasting love and tell the child how 'mature' they are, how they're 'different' and 'better' than all of their friends, but the adult isn't looking for a mutual relationship; they're looking for a relationship where they're completely dominant. It's part of why the abused tend to grow up to be abusers: once they realize how much they've been taken advantage of, it's difficult for them to trust someone in a true mutual relationship again.
Someone mentioned, earlier, that a boy who has been statutorily raped by his teacher (for example) can be sued by her for child support; I don't know what the laws actually are - they probably vary from state to state - but if that's the case anywhere, it's repulsive. Just for starters, rapists shouldn't be raising children, and no one who has been raped should be forced to parent their rapist's children; and, even if he's 15 years old, if he /wants/ custody, he should automatically get it. Or he should be able to put the kid up for adoption.
I'm pretty sure that severe physical abuse could cause PTSD too. I think the thing is, our culture glorifies violence but it demonizes sex, so in our society being the victim of sexual abuse is much more embarrassing and confusing than being beaten up because physical child abuse is seen as being somewhat normal and even "good for you" by a lot of people, I can't count the times I've heard someone on the Internet say something to the like of kids would behave if we just started beating them again. I still can't help but think pouring acid on somebody's face or something is more disturbing than any kind of sexual abuse I could envision.
I don't think all or even most victims of sexual abuse turn out to be inconsolable basket cases either, I think that's a dangerous misconception. What doesn't kill you can make you stronger.
