Yes, the BNP are that bad. The leadership is National Socialist and often ex-NF and C18.

Most of the party foot-soldiers and the EDL are standard xenophobes. The BNP are much nastier once nastier once you look at them properly. If you read their website and look at the history of a lot of their membership, you soon realise this.

Whats nasty about shutting the doors? Isn't helping some racist Muslim nasty? You obviously know diddly squat about the EDL.

I said EDL were standard xenophobes. I called the BNP nasty. They're not the same thing although they are related.

EDIT: also, no-one hates Islamism more than I do. I separate Islamism from Muslim immigrants, though. I'm pretty conservative about immigration but I'm not in favour of 'shutting the doors'. If you want a party that's anti-immigration per se, you support UKIP. BNP is for crazy racists and EDL has too many affiliation with such people to be credible.

Loving the 'diplomacy of youth topic' though

I as a matter of fact do support free migration into and out of Canada.

Does that include immediate access to benefits for all these new arrivals? If so, your state will be knackered by Friday week.

Health services for sure, but other services will require permanent residency and deeper committments (active job searching).

While my maternal family probably isn't a good example of a "retain their culture" type of immigrant (as a matter of fact, my maternal family is more of an excellent example of the culture of poverty and family breakdown/dysfunction), there still are quite a few people who retain elements of their Eastern European heritage in Western Canada. As well, the Internet isn't as magnificent a force at subverting everyday socialization as some may think it is. You still have to stand in line for grocheries and speak to Anglophone servers or speak to a Anglophone bureaucrat to get papers, whether or not you may also speak to foreigners in your native tongue on the web.

Oh, naturally. But you are only a few clicks away from ethno-nationalist propaganda from the homeland about the silent Jihad or whatever. Then again the same could be said about just about any group, immigrant or not (white nationalists, neo fascists, whatever). This is why I think with the internets wide availability, critical thinking is something that young people should be taught and encouraged in very early on to avoid falling prey to this kind of thing. I'm against internet censorship but I think just about anybody is capable of seeing through the facade of the quick, easy answer/solution if they have the right knowledge background and willingness to be open to ideas that aren't their parents or popular amongst their peers

While this is a danger, I still think it's a very small portion and analogus to the threat gang recruitment poses to the poor.

Most of the time these things are blown out of proportion. Make one ethnic nationalism look like a major, current threat to encourage nationalism in a different ethnicity. Politics...

Far right nationalism rearers its ugly head in times of economic decline.

Bang on. We're not even anti-immigration per se, we're anti-uncontrolled, mass immigration.

Indeed. Europe, especially, has always had a stronger undercurrent of racial tension and racism below the surface than North America.

I didn't realise we indulged in slave plantations in our own country, or hanging black people, or the Klu Klux Klan.

So is tea time a big thing on the Brittish nationalist party's agenda? Do they look to bring back those regular daily hot cuppas?

UKIP and the BNP are hugely different. I don't think you understand quite how different we are.

UKIP's main policy has always been to leave the EU. We've been seen as almost obsessive for mentioning the EU in any platform we get. A lot of UKIP's rhetoric isn't even especially nationalist, but about the freedom of independence more than anything.

The BNP are really about thinly-veiled racism.

The UK and France has a long history of participation in the slave trade, especially in the colonies. The fact you choose to do your dirty work off-shore doesn't change it. While the UK outlawed the slave trade earlier than the US (and "British North America" [later Canada] passed legislation that effectively (if gradually) abolished slavery in BNA). Ignoring many imperialistic wars and going straight to the modern era, while there was rural violence in the US, by and large racial resentment is worse in Europe today.

Which is why I was making fun of them in a thinly-veiled way.
