Feminists versus MRA's at Toronto College
We only get to see her reaction, never what incited her to begin with. I'm surprised nobody has considered this. She was also speaking to people who obviously had no intention of listening to her regardless of her tone of voice, and knowing MRAs they probably bombarded her with asinine, loaded questions and insinuations, so they probably reaped what they sew. I doubt she intended her message to anybody but those in front of her, she was in the middle of a heated argument. It was unpleasant to watch either way

Well, it doesn't really matter what provoked her since it wasn't recorded. Whoever made the video has successfully branded her an out of control raging feminazi. Perhaps she is, or perhaps she was just provoked by something offensive, we'll never really know.
Yeah, she was obnoxious indeed. You got that right.
And a liar to boot. She said she didn't have any hatred toward them.
Whatever her message was is irrelevant at this point because I doubt that any man or woman who was trying to have a civil discussion with her asked for her to cuss at them and yell down on them with such a condescending tone.
People can't express an opinion comfortably anymore these days.

Id just like to point out again that as when you stand against something you have to consider other people may not approve of what you are doing.
She thought this was a battle fighting for and apparently her voice got quite a wide audience who now know what she was complaining about so she shouldn´t complain too much about some people being upset about her acts
I didn't know until today that guy that does all the MRA events advocates people screwing their kids. And date rape.
The criticism of her and threats to her person have become less interesting, but it totally makes sense to me now that MRAs react that way. I mean that guy didn't get credibility as a leader/speaker in that group by only a minority of that particular group giving it to him. I think that's enough for me to stop looking in this thread or anything that references MRAs. I need a WP version of tumblr saviour. I wonder how many other prominent MRAs have said awful stuff like that. D:
I don't even know if that lady was obnoxious, but death/rape threats are common for any feminist who gets media attention, as I said, there will always be a million excuses made as to why the reaction is justifiable, and you can deny that the threats were significant or even extant, it's all the same for me at this point.

This feminist group pulled a fire alarm on a meeting that was advocating gender equality. From the info I was able to gather, these feminists felt that addressing men's issues was somehow misogyny, and therefore set the fire alarm off to interrupt the meeting. The confrontation in the video happened afterwards.
They're not helping the damaged image of feminism in 2013. If you want to get your ideas across, try lowering your voice and speak like a human being.
So was this a legitimate group actually focused on men's rights, or was it a group focused on sending women back to the Dark Ages?
I believe this was the topic of the interrupted April 4 lecture (the top one). You decide...
http://equalitycanada.com/miaclectures/
I am not familiar with the books in question, though...
The top one seems fine. The one beneath that is objectionable.
This group does not seem too bad to me, aside from the attacks on women's studies. Perhaps they associate with bad characters, as others have pointed out.
They should include a disclaimer on their website that says they do not advocate date rape and that "no" always means "no" but then point out that sexual abuse against boys is a much-neglected and underreported issue (I am, personally, a victim of this, so I know about this first-hand) while sexual crimes against women and girls get most of the media attention.
I can imagine doing so to attempt to persuade them that they're wrong.
In fact, although the details of who is on what side and what the topic happens to be are different, this is pretty similar to what I do every time I argue anything on WP, except that I'm not guaranteed that the conversation will be polite.

You need to accept that misandry happens in the real world and take some precautions.
Take a self defense class, they’re only a couple hundred dollars a month.
Don’t go out after dark unless you have a woman to chaperone you.Misandrists are less likely to attack if they see you are with another woman.
Don’t wear anything too douchey. If you’re wearing a fedora or a sexist t-shirt, etc. you’re pretty much asking to get attacked. Misandrists can’t control themselves when they see a man in a fedora, their instincts kick in and before they know it they have a dead male corpse in their hands. Just be a good boy and don’t tempt them, okay?
Don’t ever invite a woman into your home. Misandrists will interpret this as you consenting to physical violence.
Drinking increases your risk of being attacked by a misandrist. They target drunk men because their inhibitions are lowered.
Never leave your drink unattended. Misandrists are notorious for poisoning men at parties and bars.
If a misandrist does attack you, be quiet and just let her finish or you might anger her further and you are liable to get murdered instead of just mutilated. But also, be sure to put up a good fight because a lot of men say they don’t want to be attacked by misandrists but deep down, they really like it.
And remember, accusing a woman of abusive misandry is worse than being abused by a misandrist. So before you make accusations, make sure it wasn’t all just a silly misunderstanding.

Death threats are common to non-feminists as well. Read Dawkins' hate mail for an example.
Also, non-feminist women may receive rape threats just as much as feminist women do. It's not exclusively a feminist thing.
I didn't actually read through a whole lot of what this guys has stated, but if it's true, they seem very unorthodox and I highly doubt is typical of MRAs. Also, even then, that woman actually suggested they be allies (which suggests to me she may not be aware of what he actually believes), so it's still irrelevant what he personally believes as she was condescending towards him regardless of his personal beliefs.

The video is pretty much just a long clip of the event, mostly of the red haired lady, but she doesn't actually show up until about a minute in. It does look like those that are saying she was provoked aren't quite right; people seem to be treating her considerably more politely than she is treating others. That said, she does seem somewhat less obnoxious than in some of the other videos and she actually makes a point or two in this one. Still, she's incredibly rude, and it's not justified. She suggests that feminists and MRAs should be allies, and then says that "We don't hate you because you're men, if we hate you it's because you're fkng MRAs", apparently missing the irony of that.
At about 10:30, a guy asks a question *very* nicely about what insults accomplish, and she's very nasty and rude to the guy, and says something about not wanting to be "docile" and "what difference does it make". This is the most depressing part of the video, IMO. He walks on eggshells to try not to set her off, but she goes off anyway. It doesn't take very much thought to realize that there are quite a few ways of not being docile that involve no rudeness whatsoever.
Rudeness may get you heard (like it did for her), but it won't get you listened to (again, like it did for her).

It looks to me like she is really suffering from something. When I think more about it, what she needs isn't hatred but some compassion. Rewatch the minute when she shows some vulnerability and expresses desire for those men to care about what she wants.

These conflations are such a stretch it isn't even funny. Are you seriously trying to equate common sense like not leaving your drink unattended with allowing the rapist to do his dirty work without resisting? Sure what a woman wears has nothing to do with her getting raped, but are you seriously suggesting that monitoring your drinking isn't a precautionary measure? Let's face it, drinking til you pass out at a frat party where you hardly know anyone is f*****g stupid.
There's no need for women to live in fear or for anyone to excuse rape. But ideals are no replacement for precautionary measures and women definitely need to take them for those few a**holes who are selfish and hateful enough to do such a thing.
