I have fun mocking PC ret*ds because they have no lives and waste their days away finding reasons to be offended and the fact they are wussies who like to ruin fun for everyone.

As for the word ret*d I am desensitized from it and have toughened up in this context it does not refer to those with mental or neurological disorders, just idiots who whine and complain over every simple thing and expecting us to be overly sensative to everything and being uncomfortable and not having fun just so they can be happy. Stop being so PC and whiny and such a wuss and harden up! Be proud stand up do what you want to do without pressure or fear of offending wusses!

My wife and I have a friend who is a Trans-woman, and she has had moments of anxiety when out in public with a group of us, feeling she is being stared at by everyone. I truly feel for what she's going through.

it has been my experience that one cannot be anywhere out of the ordinary around many people- one is far better off living in places with more educated people, generally in fancier parts of the country, especially larger cities.

I think a large part of my friend's anxiety problems stem from her past growing up in Arizona, a state she recalls as not being the most progressive. Her boyfriend has said she hasn't been bullied or stigmatized here in Washington, though I can see how she'd be haunted by bad memories. Again, something I can empathize with, growing up as a target for bullies, and befriended for the most part by other schoolyard outcasts.

I can tell if I lived in Olympia instead of the wilds of mason county, I'd be better off in regards of being around people who grokked me.

To be sure, there are places here in Washington that might as well be in some red state. Leave the area of Spokane and the little municipalities clustered around it, and all of a sudden, you might think you've suddenly been transported to some other place where tolerance is not so highly prized.

it must be noted that not all people can speak for themselves/defend themselves, deer in the headlights going on at least with me. so I welcome people who can defend me. no criticism of whining from me.

You do realize that dressing up as a media figure is very different than dressing up as a general group of people, right? Jenner is a popular public figure. Her story has a lot of unusual elements. Gold medal winning athlete and the step dad to the Kardashians and member of that very well known and odd family gets a sex change is kind of far out. If people are making fun then its because of all the elements that came together to make the story so eye catching. Its not simply that somebody is trans. Its that Bruce Jenner, one of the Kardashians bunch, did it. And unlike most trans women she was on the cover of Vogue. Its the fame and the other elements that cause people to choose that costume, not the fact that she's trans. You don't see people going around dressing like some random trans person they know. I do hope you can see the difference.

Also sometimes a guy may dress up like a random girl for Halloween but that's usually due to lack of money or time for a real costume so he puts on his sisters or mother's or girlfriends clothes and there's a free costume. Its not to mock, its to just find something to wear.

One of the kids friends who I have known since middle school is trans. His mother was horrible about it. He had trouble from her when he first told her he was gay and she forbid him from hanging around with my daughter because she was suspicious that "something was going on". He had an awful time even getting dressed because his mother refused to buy him boy clothes or even neutral looking girl things. I was there for him and talked her into letting him hang with my daughter again and bought him gender appropriate clothes to keep here when he would spend the weekend and my daughter took them to school every day so he could change there and then again before he went home.

He had no supportive adult in his life so I became his surrogate mom and found and took him to support groups and activities they sponsored. I talked his mother into letting live with us for a while and he's now moved out and in college and doing great and I really saw the difference in him once he was here and had a home where he could be himself and a family that accepted him for who he was and loved him because he is a great, lovable kid and not because of our own expectations. I saw the s**t he went through and I'm the last one who would try to hurt somebody by condoning making fun of them for something they catch s**t about all the time. However, I never heard him complain about something like a Halloween costume or anything like that. And if it bothered him I would have heard about it. I was and am his confidant and the person he vents to. Even though he moved out I'm still "mom" to him because he still needs a mother and his is a piece of crap. So I'm hardly transphobic or apathetic about the issue. And if it matters, he's originally from Cali so he's familiar with West Coast sensitivities and PC fears and just in case it matters to you (cause this kind of thing probably does) he's black as well. I'll gladly text him today and ask his opinion on this. In fact I have to now because I want to see what he says. I'm sure he can understand that people dress up as somebody famous for Halloween, especially if they are interesring.

Also, before you start doing the PC zealot thing and labeling someone based on your idea of them from one opinion, you might want to learn a bit more about me before you label me as either ridiculing trans people or not caring about that. You have no idea at all about my background on the lgbt activism community. I'm simply trying to explain the difference between satire of someone famous and ridicule of a group of people. I'm sure you can understand that its not the same thing.

Well we are all the same kin so I don't think it is really out of turn for one of us, I was more talking about the liberal white usually college student that takes offense to these types of costumes.

Lets just say this, the way I talked with black people back home growing up with them and being the minority in that situation would not be considered acceptable to these lily white weirdos who just discovered there is inequality in the world at college who lived their whole lives in affluent white suburbs because their parents abandoned the city and us poor people decades ago. They're the oppressor class not me.
