Then what are their arguments? Giving Hitler a pass because he allegedly didn't know what the heads of the SS were doing sounds pretty sketchy.

Smells like "holocaust denier"

I didn't want to blurt it out loud, and risk having another member possibly banned.

Yes but he's an intelligent individual who knows what he is saying. There are plenty of those who voted yes to Donald Trump, intelligent people who don't mind flirting with outright uncaring bigots because they are not a member of a minority group and don't have cross hairs on them

I see your logic. I just hope he restrains his emotions to avoid being booted out.

I don't accuse all Trump voters of being racists. But I sincerely believe Trump and his crew had purposely courted racists.

I think homophobia is f*****g stupid, but I still support free speech. I think everyone should have the right to make themselves look like bigoted idiots so that other people can steer clear of them. :P

I think what makes me more concerned is not the existence of Trump. Donald Trump is honest in expressing his personal values and is (in my view) an open book.

What makes me frustrated is middle class white Americans who would choose him over less extreme republicans. People have amnesia in that they forget that conservative republican candidates with better economic credentials and experience were overlooked for an untested and unpredictable candidate who has expressed views that should have made educated white middle class men and women be concerned. And yet what this tells me is that a significant number of Americans have little or no morals or ethics and (in addition) are willing to gamble with their country and ultimately the rest of the world like they are playing a roulette table or poker game in a casino.

I imagine after the Trump hangover that middle class and educated white folks might regret not selecting Ted Cruz or Mitt Romney.

Less extreme? So tea party ted cruise? Or destroy social security, Medicaid, Medicare, been dreaming of for 35 years rand Paul?

They chose him cause it wasn't part of the establishment and all the others were. This wasn't a vote for trump but w big f you to both parties and the establishment. People are sick of the establishment telling us what to do. These politicians spend all their lives from 20s til death in congress that's ridiculous. They tell junior senators to shut up and wait til they've been around as long as them to speak in congress. Government wasn't meant to be a family business

More like you're sick and have been for a while, and rather than choose one of the relatively safe treatments that might make you feel better in some ways but worse in others and most likely will just prolong the status quo, you choose the dramatic one that might fix your problems but also might cause some extra harm, because at least that might get [i]something[/] changed.

I'm on both sides of the ball as a libertarian; maybe Trump does well and some of my small government ideas get signed into law, maybe he is so terrible that trust in government plunges and people who used to want the state to regulate more areas suddenly realize that's not so great an idea if a man like Trump can lead the government. It's a high risk play, but I'm hedged on both sides (said as someone who didn't vote for him but is cautiously optimist).

They don't give Hitler a pass, as he was head of state. It's quite understandable that certain SS guards or generals would act alone and go on murderous rampages or order them. It's just challenging that whole "pure/wonderful/good vs pure evil." notion too.

There's a big difference between deniers and revisionists.

Why would Republicans just vote for someone who's identical to Clinton?

How is Ted Cruz less extreme? Trump wants to fight with Assad and Putin against ISIS. Ted Cruz's position on Syria was to "carpet bomb" it.

But that's the thing. As one American WWII historian (Stephen Ambrose, I think) had said, under the Nazis, there was no longer the right for soldiers to operate under their own initiative when circumstance demanded. Instead, they had to stop and ask for directions from above. As the SS leadership were so fanatically enamoured with Hitler, it's highly unlikely that Himmler, Heydrich, or anyone else would have carried out a major event like the Holocaust without Hitler's okay. Plus, don't forget the Wannsee Conference, where Heydrich and others, acting in an official capacity, worked out the fine details of the Holocaust. There is absolutely no way Hitler could not have known, as even those Wehrmacht officers and German civilians who had taken part in the failed Stauffenberg bomb plot had acted because, among other reasons, they had learned what was happening in those camps.

Soldiers didn't have the right, but still might have done. Yes, but was this in the earlier years? Things started to fall apart towards the end. The "Holocaust" isn't a single event. The phrase wasn't even used until the 1970's. I'm not denying the bloodshed and suffering, just the way it's been used to cause suffering to others and to blackmail Swiss banks is terrible. They worked out to move all Jews into concetration camps. Remember not all of the camps were extermination camps as a whole. Hitler had also said that he'd deal with the Jewish problem after the war so this seems to contradict that he was planning her to kill all Jews. Things aren't as black and white as they seem, something deniers especially cannot fathom.
