Hey, the yanks got a thread after all...

I nominate Per Albin Hansson, who helped make the foundation of the modern wellfare system through Folkhemmet (the People's home), though he's criticized for being a bit 'nazi-friendly' through WWII.

Also, Charles XII, who was a brilliant strategist, but who eventually ended Sweden's status as Great power through a crazy campaign through Russia. He had certain aspie traits.

Olof Palme - without a doubt. He established what I consider one of the few consistently laudable foreign policies in an industrial country and was a strong defender of the social welfare state.

Hjalmar Branting - the man who started the official social democraticization of Sweden. Gotta love him.

I almost forgot to mention Axel Oxenstierna. He was a man behind the scenes, who proved to help Sweden greatly, both economically and miltarily.

Does Gustavus Adolphus count as a politician?

Sorry, but I'm kinda ignorant of Swedish history. Gustavus Adolphus is the only Swede I know of.

I second Gustavus Adolphus...the 30 years war wouldn't have been the same without him, even though 'leading from the front' did get him capped in the end...;)

You know, i think it's kind of sad and interesting that nothing of importance in Sweden gets to us, does that really mean you guys are that peaceful? <.<
