Hmm...some ignorant people, after enslaving part of a continent, settling land, and then finding diamonds insisted that God must have put it there for them, they were completely wrong but they invoked God's name in the mess - therefor because they were wrong God likely doesn't exist.

I hate to say it but people have always made these kinds of flowery claims through history, half the time politically to staple and secure a kill, the universe is really indifferent to them or their claims.
