Hey I was thinking that it's possible to live on if you try to, as in pushing your mind out of your body instead of just conking out and going to sleep, what do you guys think?

A human soul is either there or it isn't. If its there - at worst you're just really scattered and it takes a second (maybe a few days) to regroup your 'essence' so to speak and regain consciousness. If there is no human soul - will power is utility of the brain which depends on ATP which depends on blood flow and oxygen, thinking you could 'man' your way through that is like thinking you could take a bazooka shell through the chest and keep fighting. Critical operations of the body are critical operations of the body, if we don't have souls that means that everything you can possibly draw power from essentially comes unplugged at the point of death.

1. Your mind is your brain in operation. Your "mind" is a function of your body and it cannot be pushed out.

2. There is no afterlife.

The only way you could rationalise the idea of you mind leaving your body is through your actions, or by a copy of your brain matter.
The first is through things you do (think "he lives on through his work; his books" etc)
The other is in the pipeline, seriously, single and grouped brain cell simulations are already happening, but we'll probably have to wait for quantum computing to really take hold for any real progress.

There isn't a layman's guide to reaching nirvana or eternal consciousness.
