Enough Already!
I don't know about you guys, but I am sick and tired of posts talking about who is being oppressed and who is the oppressor.
"Blacks are oppressed! Whites are oppressed! Muslims are oppressed! Christians are oppressed! Atheists are oppressed! Autistics are oppressed! Gay people are oppressed!"
Sooner or later, everyone is going to be discriminated against, judged, or hated by somebody. I am white, so the guy in the black-panther-voter-intimidation video probably hates me. I am female, therefor there is a mysogynist out there who hates me, and on and on. Someone who is black is hated by a neo-nazi, a male will be hated by someone who hates men.
I apologize for the temper-tantrum nature of this post. I am just tired of people being pegged as either vitims or oppressors. Let's say you set up a situation where autistic people are the victims and the NT's are the oppressors. What's just been done is that very unique individual people are being cast into roles that may or may not reflect their character. I, as an autistic-like person, do not want to be considered a helpless victim of my environment, nor do I want my neurotypical friends to be stereotyped as cruel, heartless bigots (which they are not).

Atheists also are not happy about urine. I feel oppressed because only religious people have god given-rights. But then again, how many dogs believe in God?

Yay Aunt Blabby.
I like to say 'well I'm white, male, tall, attractive, high IQ, University educated, Judeo-christian background: name something that isn't my fault".
The irony is I've spent all my adult working life being bullied and humiliated, to the point that I actually refuse to go outside unless I absolutely have to. The couple of friends I have I've struggled to keep because I seem to spend my entire time with them dodging the bullets of their insecurities. When I run out of energy I get them out of my life and move on. Aspie meltdowns are almost daily now. If I'm friendly and make eye contact I'm sleazy: If I'm wary and avoid eyecontact I'm arrogant or I'm creepy. Those are my choices- I don't get sane assessments, or normal conversations, or sensible rational friendships; everything is either too much or too little.
So yes, everyone is discriminated against ![]()

how many gods believe in dog?
In the modern Western world there is no oppression but everyone wants to use it as an excuse.
"You only arrested me because I am black"!
"No, dumbass, we arrested you because we caught you robbing a store".
In Australia the latest gripe is there are very few women directors on the boards of big companies.
So?
Ahh, we should MAKE them have more women directors to be "fair".
But then we would have to have a quota for gays and lesbians, and black people and Muslims and Dwarfs and fat people.
I love the word "forced". People are always being "forced" to do this or that.
You give some losers public housing and they totally trash the place.
Then they complain that they are being "forced" to live in a dump with a blocked toilet and broken windows.
There is a guy in America who sues places because they are not "wheelchair friendly".
He won a case against a motorcycle shop!
Seriously! Why would a guy in a wheelchair need to go into a motorcycle shop?
Don't get me started on illegal immigrants demanding their "rights".
I think we are ALL being oppressed by "politically correct" maniacs.

And therefore all oppression is total illusion. The world is inherently fair and nobody is getting a raw deal. So now we can all relax.
I agree with you on the point that people seem to want to use oppression as an excuse to get their way, but I do not agree with you on the point that there is no oppression in the modern Western world. True, we aren't forcing people into racially-based slave labor anymore, but oppression still occurs here and everywhere else, albeit sometimes in more subtle forms.
So?

I think that this kind of affirmative action may have been appropriate and necessary at one time, but I think that its use is outdated now. I actually believe that the affirmative action policy has a demeaning effect on the populations that it is supposed to serve. On some level it sends the message that, "We think you need our help to secure employment, because (blacks, women, gays, lesbians, muslims, dwarfs, etc.) just aren't capable or smart enough to do it on their own."
You give some losers public housing and they totally trash the place.

Ditto.

To be totally fair, many people in wheelchairs are able to leave their chairs temporarily, and use wheelchairs because of conditions which make walking difficult or tiring. For example, someone with muscular dystrophy may still be able to get up and walk around independantly for a short time, but doing so all day would be excessively painful and tiring. In short, it's not inconceivable that someone in a wheelchair would have an interest in a motorcycle.

Ok, so I read everything.
Everyone will be oppressed, and everyone will be an oppressor.
I am a big sister-opr
I am a girl-opd
I am a strong person-opr
I am autistic-opd
....
I can go on for hours about this.
Discrimination comes from everybody, and goes towards everybody.
It is near impossible to not be hated by somebody in this life.
You can be the nicest person ever, someone will hate you.
Do you have to be bullied, most of the time, no. Most of the time there is a way out. (but I don't know every case).
Oh, and when wombat said about those black people committing crimes is true. They not only use it to do bad things, they use it to influence our politics. I mean heck, I'm not racist, but I KNOW Obama only passed because he was black (and he had deals with the media). I'm not sure about the whole peace prize, but the presidency he leads is a joke, and is going to cost my generation a whole lotta money.
Anyways, my point is that it can and will go both directions.
I used to get picked on when I was a child. As I got older I made sure everybody understood I was not to be made fun of. Then again, I have picked on my little sisters (with good reason though, they are the most annoying sisters in the universe).
It goes both ways, it is unavoidable. There are ways to make less of it, but it will always exist, that is human nature. Blah, blah, blah. The end. I am tired. That is my ending statement.

You are so right! In our society everyone is given a fair chance to get ahead based on their own personal skill and qualifications.
But everyone wants to b***h:
"You are only arresting me because I am Black"
"They didn't give me the job because I am a woman"
"There should be quotas for gay people"
"There should be quotas for old people"
"There should be quotas for fat people"
How about everyone shut the hell up and realize that if someone else got the job or the university place it is because you aren't good enough?
To say "They're oppressed" and gain a following, they as a class need a fairly broad set of oppressive activities unarguably carried out against their interests.
For an aspie to say "I'm oppressed" won't gather much of a following, because - to normals - an aspie's oppression looks like their own doing. Somehow we have to move the entire cultural position to somewhere where the burden of being autistic isn't entirely sheeted home to the individual.
Has anyone ever said this, and then followed it with anything other than a racist comment?
"I'm not racist, but I like drinking black tea."
Your answer is yes.
Yeah, I should have read the rest of the thread before I responded to Orwell. Oh well, it was too tempting.
