Those must have been some brave attack add writers, they didn't call Jackson "Old Hickory" because he
didn't enjoy beating people with a hickory stick, not even getting into his dueling record. I'd pay good money to see some of our current congressmen settle their differences with pistols at 20 paces, given the current state of things I can't see the results as being much worse than what we usually get.
It was also easier to remain anonymous back then.
