Okay so for a while I've been troubled with the idea as to what exactly my beliefs were and what label to put them under.

And then it occurred to me: Politically I've often switched between the left and the right because I honestly didn't care for the beliefs of either side...I just wanted to be on the side that was acting less annoying during a particular time. For the longest time I've been a right-y politically but slowly I've been heading more towards the left since Conservatives seem to be getting more and more whiny.

It's been the same religion wise as well...sometimes I'll be more Christian to piss off Atheists and other times I'll be more Atheist to piss off the Christians depending on how I'm feeling towards a certain side at a certain time. I've never identified myself with either side. I just want to get on one side just to piss off another and then vice versa because I know what pisses people off in matters of religion and politics and I would rather have fun with that than waste time in debate where people aren't going to listen to you anyway and just call you an idiot.

I just can't take either side seriously anymore.

So that settles it everyone...

...I'm an a**hole!

Far be it from me to speak from ignorance to contradict your informed judgement and self characterization.

But looking around at several areas and styles of contemporary social and cultural activity, I am not sure that assessment is specific enough to clarify where you stand. There are some I could name who do not so self-categorize who arguably qualify better as you.

I'd say the name Contrarian fits you better.
