I don't have speakers on this computer and the captioning attempt didn't work, but from what I've studied on the law so far: it is a pretty giant headache. I believe in the GOALS of the law, but I'm not convinced that the MECHANICS were the best way to acheive those goals. It will help keep me employed, but it doesn't seem like the extra work days that will result will be any fun.

I said that about the passive loss rules way back when, too, and I did eventually have a little fun with them but, by and large, they are laws where the compliance work seems out of proportion to the intended result.

And ... 14 years down the road with the passive loss rules, I guess it wasn't that horrible, and I have to admit to never having come up with a better answer, so sometimes you just go with it.

Health care is so much simpler in Canada. Everyone gets a medicare card, tax money goes in, and that's that. None of the headache with insurance and exceptions.

And a good portion of that is due to ambulance chasing lawyers were causing the costs to go up.

Actually yes, it just never made it up for debate because a key donor for Democrats is trial lawyers.

Seems to be an issue.

I've got one for you, since every party is in someone's pocket, totally off topic: can you explain to me why the state of Alaska pulls in two dollars from the federal government for every one dollar they send in? I can see why Mississippi does, but Alaska? The state that PAYS its citizens for living there, instead of collecting taxes? Many states get back less than they send it; this isn't a universal equation. Interesting math, isn't it? Could it occur without lobbying or pork?
