1. Educators have been found abusing or exploiting sexually and otherwise their students, whether technically adult as in the university or young children ast other levels.

2. Educators have sought in some cases to enforce gender roles and stereotypes in society, in others to eliminate important differences between the sexes.

3. Educators have forced their charges into mindless and pointless rituals [the pledge of allegiance springs to mind] and actions [calisthenics].

4. Educators have compelled their charges to participate in fund raising activities, begging or selling over priced good door to door - an activity which may place students in harm's way.

5. Educators have dictated what students may and may not wear, what they may and may not say, what they may or may not do.

6. Educators have inflicted punishments on their charges, physically striking them, shaming them with ridicule, or confining them.

7. Educators have taught that which is false [and was known at the time to be false] and concealed that which is true [and was known at the time to be true].

8. Educators have imposed whims and prejudices on those in their control [one of my brother's teachers insisted the class pronounce "and" so as to rhyme with "bond", disliking the local dialect].

9. Educators have separated students from their families and communities and forbidden them to speak their mother tongue.

10. Educators have "taught to the test" and gerrymandered test questions and outcomes.

11. Educators have emphasized rote learning of factoids and spitback exams while squelching open discussion and independent thought.

12. Educators have favored and funded students who are "good citizens" rather than those with greater ability.

13. Educators have set curriculum without being accountable or explaining to students or, in the case of younger students, to parents how the course of studies is appropriate and what their goals are.

-------------

Thirteen points will do me.

All of these points can be documented, most I have personally observed or suffered under. As an educator I am guilty of some of these abuses.

If what I allege here is true [and I assure you it is] does this mean [check all that apply]:

A. Education is a bad thing.

B. Some educators are bad people.

C. Education should be reformed

D. Parents should seize control of education.

E. Government should be more involved in education.

F. Government should be less involved in education.

G. Educators need better training.

H. Education should be left to the individual.

-----------------

I respect the intelligence of the perversions of religion listers.

Even worse in higher ed is the vetting of professors based on their ability to shape curriculum to fit into social justice and to in some way inculcate identity politics as to prop up races other then whites, and equalize the genders and classes.

Race Gender and Class. If you are not on board you need to, and that includes everyone from pharmachology to applied statistics. Professors who don't spend the first 10 to 15 minutes of at least one or two classes harping on American crimes with regards to US foreign or social policy or have in some way a tie-in into race, gender, or class are obviously fascist conservatives or Republican and will be ousted. For a good look at the assumptions that guide this mindset, consider this discussion on Race (Forward video to 3 Minutes, 28 Seconds)

[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=az7VZvLGvcs&feature=related[/youtube]

These are true(For public schools k-12):

B. Some educators are bad people.
C. Education should be reformed
D. Parents should seize control of education. (or have a say in the curriculum)
E. Government should be more involved in education. (in reforming the system)
F. Government should be less involved in education. (Demolish the Department Of Education)

Provide educators performance based pay and raise their pay substantially for those who perform well.

Education must be reformed, constantly. And of course it keeps happening.

Thank god it is unlike religion in which nothing forces it to stay in one way until the end of days.

MarketandChurch -

Oh! I remember that [expletive deleted] from Indoctrinate U! I saw the X Studies Programs started and growing up. {Peace, do not start into this!]

Vexcalibur: Do you have a history book? Even the most conservative religious organizations are incredibly different from where they were not that far ago. BASE theologies change a little more slowly. But go read some Reformation credal statements and compare them with what the churches in your town talk up.

The Society of Friends in town would NOT be recognizable to George Fox.

AND - it helps that these days in MOST places the government is not shaping the church as it is the schools.

The worst "crime". Educators are often incompetent in the field that they are teaching. This is particularly true at the elementary and secondary level of schooling in the U.S.
