Soros backed group tries to paint Beck as anti-semite again
As people have seen skafather84's topic about Rabbis and Rupert Murdoch, this isn't the first time this stunt has been pulled by the far-left groups backed by George Soros.
Statements like those prompted ZOA to respond.
“It is painful, troubling and disquieting to see Jewish leaders defending any actions by George Soros, someone who has shown himself to be an active antagonist of Israel and the U.S., whom he blames for the world’s troubles,” ZOA National President Morton A. Klein says in the statement.
“In light of Soros’ hatred of Israel and the United States; his continuous efforts to harm them; the absence of any subsequent remorse and feeling as an adult over the events he witnesses in Nazi-occupied Hungary as a 14-year old; as well as the fact that Glenn Beck’s comments were essentially accurate, George Soros merits no defense or sympathy from Jewish leaders,” he adds.
“We are truly puzzled that some Jewish leaders have chosen to defend this and other Israel-bashers from their critics.”

Is from the article I posted the last time this bull was brought up.
There's a consensus in the Jewish community to try not to put ourselves in the position of judging someone in whose shoes you have never walked. Our rabbis tell us, "do not judge a man until you have reached his place." We don't know whether Soros took away property, for example, from someone who had already been taken to a death camp, never to return, or whether he removed property from someone's home right in front of them. But we also know that there were Jews who were kapos during the Holocaust, and despite the edict not to judge people, they are severely frowned upon in the Jewish community, both during the Holocaust and thereafter. Clearly, there is a difference between someone who survived the camps by removing gold jewelry from dead bodies and someone who survived by turning in others. Was Soros a kapo? I don't know. But when someone says he feels 'no guilt' because 'someone else would have done it anyway,' that's enough to raise my hackles pretty high.
The Holocaust generations (my parents' and grandparents' generations) resent anyone judging their actions during the Holocaust, and that's why you're hearing the type of reaction you heard from Abe Foxman (I don't know much about the other people Kampeas quotes). But based on that transcript, Foxman is wrong to describe the accusations against Soros as 'unsubstantiated.' Perhaps, Beck should have criticized Soros for his lack of remorse or guilt over what he did, rather than for the actions themselves, but that's already nuanced. It's the lack of remorse or guilt that indicate (to me anyway) that Soros is a vicious man with no feelings of empathy for his own people.
In any event, the attacks on Beck seem (to me anyway) to be motivated by the fact that Beck regularly attacks Liberal icons and not from any fear of him besmirching Holocaust survivors.

Sometimes the Beck haters enlist Jewish groups, such as the ADL or the Jewish Funds for Justice to spread the Antisemitic myths obviously hoping that because they have Jewish names the charges will stick, but make no mistake about it, neither the ADL or the Jewish Funds for Justice give a “rats arse” about Jewishness, their real priority is advancing a progressive agenda.
But yesterday, the Beck haters went way beyond the pale, they enlisted Cenk Uygur, MSNBC commentator and creator of the site “The Young Turks” to accuse Glenn Beck of Antisemitism.

So, the question is... "Is there anyone on the Left here that will condemn the behavior of groups on the left trying to smear someone just cause they don't agree with that individual?

Where is the Soros backing established?
I don't deny that Soros might have a motive, but I am not sure that his hand is anything more than suspected here.
So what is the true issue here? Soros' activities during the War, or Beck's conduct on the air? It seems to me that each side is equally guilty of relying on one to cloud the other, and neither should be particular proud of themselves.

Considering Beck has quoted Soros and even played videos of Soros saying he felt no guilt, I don't think a lawsuit would make it anywhere unless the Judge was corrupt. Plus with the way Beck documents everything, it would stand to reason he can back up everything he has said about Soros.

What's with "sides" anyway? Not every single issue in America can be reduced to one side or another. Only dumb, 2 dimensional thinkers buy into that assumption. I despise Beck and have no idea who the f**k George Soros is.
The 3 dimensional thinking idea is my bit; find another one. :p
/most things have at least 3 options...rarely is something simply a or b.

Come on. Beck said "Here's a Jewish boy helping send the Jews to the death camps" which was a blatant misrepresentation, possibly slander.

As far as I'm aware he never apologize for or retracted this statement. He just pretended he never said it and then went on to say he wasn't judging Soros for his actions as a 14 your old (yea right
It has to do with the man saying it was the happiest time of his life or something of that nature and feeling no guilt now.
"It was actually, probably the happiest year of my life - that year of German occupation. For me it was a very positive experience. It's a strange thing, because you see incredible suffering all around you, and in fact, you are in considerable danger yourself. But you're fourteen years old and you don't believe that it can actually touch you. You have a belief in yourself, you have a belief in your father. It's a very happy making exhilarating experience."

Further quoting what Glenn Beck said:
BECK: I am not blaming a fourteen year old or his parents for trying to keep him alive, trying to keep a family alive. I don't think anyone can understand what it must have been like to be Jewish in that scenario. Can you?
Especially fourteen. I don't want to question the fourteen year old. I would, however, like to question the eighty year old man, who has never once said he regretted it - but more than that, he views it as the happiest year of his life.
Again, not my words, his words. Listen.

this statement is mind bogglingly hilarious. if i'd never seen the poster's previous posts, i'd think he did it on purpose.

Agreed, I seriously doubt Murdoch will fire Beck. If anything these groups calling Beck an anti-semite are out of their minds.

Yes. Let your anti-liberal prejudice do your thinking for you. His supposed "Nazi collaboration" (where he was forced to confiscate property from a family who had fled) was one single event that doesn't represent an entire year of a boys life.
Or do you think it is wrong that normal people might feel a sense of excitement/exhilaration in the presense of something dangerous or disastrous? You know there are people who chase tornadoes or hurricanes for the thrill? Do you think storm chasers do what they do because they feel glee at the fact that people lose their homes and/or die in storms?
You also have to consider the fact that he was largely isolated from the rest of the Jewish community (possibly for his own safety). He had mostly Christian friends didn't personally know the other Jewish families living in his area. Another thing is the true horror of the Nazi program (that Jews and other ethnic minorities were being exterminated by the millions) was not widely known until after the war. At the time people were very afraid of the Nazis, but they were not aware that people were being sent to be killed. The reality turned out to be beyond anyone's worst imagination. Despite the danger he was in, Soros was actually pretty insulated from what was happening.
How about you get over your hatred of Conservatives already.
We're not talking about the 14 year old, we're talking about the man decades later looking back on it and feeling no guilt.
Again this isn't about the 14 year old boy, this is about the man decades later not feeling any guilt over it.
