I'd prefer to read the highlights than download the whole file and sift it myself. I can't say I feel surprised that law enforcement executives hate an informed public and criminals have some truly bizarre ideas, or that sometimes both of those exist in one person.

I find miles of irony in the whole incident. The US attacked as the enemy of freedom via the internet! War amongst the anarchists! How dare they expose people doing the most dangerous job ever, who signed up to risk exposure from any source! Do I have identity theft insurance and does it matter!

Even switching parties never made my head spin like this.

That's not just a cybercrime, that's a full blown terrorist act! That's going to get people killed! If they want open borders and amnesty, they just blew it big time!

Arpaio isn't secretive about his actions. If he gets hacked you will likely find plenty of emails that are offensive to liberals but, he's not one to be subtle. The voters know his methods and he keeps getting re-elected.

SB1070 has popular support and it will only get stronger if cartels and street gangs with foreign ties start settling scores with law enforcement. I doubt even Obama and Napolitano can spin doctor that one.

If Joe gets hit he there will be more than offensive info there will be prison sentences.
Joe is crooked as hell. as well as incompetent.
His racism is actually an uninteresting side note.

Terrorism consists of military action against civilians, geared to produce terror in the public. The police use military tactics and refer to non-police as civilians.

You can call it heinous, but I don't think it qualifies as terrorism. Who's terrified by this?

Then exactly what do you call it on your planet when you use people's addresses to track them down and kill them to try and deter others from interfering with you?

How you are able to get 'terrorized' of the government not being able to hide information from you
really beats me.

It's not the government terrorizing anyone, it's our law enforcement officers and their families that are now vulnerable to foreign organizations.

I hate your figure of speech. I don't track anyone down. You overgeneralize to shore up a weak argument.

The documents revealed about a dozen addresses. Evidently the brass didn't even bother to warn the officers whose information was compromised. Funny that in the article the spokesman asserts that no one can assume active racial profiling by officers, but in the highlights the police departments own analysis reveals that they do engage in racial profiling and worse.

That article says nothing about no officers getting informed of the data breach. Since at least one officer changed their phone number, someone would have needed to warn them.

If you live in a border state long enough, you get a pretty good idea of which hispanics were born and raised in the barrio and which ones are foreign born. Documented foreigners are supposed to carry their passport or green card at all times. If you stop someone who is clearly not from around here and not assimilated and they have no ID or give you a matricula consular, then they are probably here illegally. The same rules of thumb apply to dealing with other foreigners. All rules of probable cause apply. Cops can't just run around jacking up Mexicans about their immigration status.

* If some crazy hacker boys in the web can access this info, so can foreign organizations.
* Admit it, most of this is about the government not liking to be on the receiving end of the same sort of surveillance that they are giving us.

I read an article earlier today, but my web history seems to have deleted itself... weird.

Here's another, with links to their document.

Evidently they've dissolved the group, perhaps to flee the country? I read earlier that other hackers had threatened to release their personal information. AntiSec seems more like an ideology than an organized group, so expect to see more secret documents liberated.

On the subject of vendettas against cops. Wouldn't the criminal gangs just follow them home from the office if attacking families was their goal? I think they have an understanding of the rules of engagement with the cops. Cops can also take off their uniforms, follow people home and attack their families, and criminals know this. Both sides benefit from treating their interaction like a business, which it resembles, really.
