Does political neutrality exist? how can one achieve political neutrality?

I think it's really hard to stay neutral and not to take either side. Even those who claim to be neutral often favor, even slightly, the right or the left.

I think it's a myth. You can be neutral only if you are an alien who comes to earth, don't read any papers, watch TV or expose yourself to the world around you. That way, you have absolutely zero idea about what's going on. To achieve that, my friends, it takes a person who was born in a cave and lived there his whole life, by himself.

Well - you can ask Master Pedant for confirmation - I am pretty close to that. I am an alien in every society I have visited [except for the Inner Circle and a couple Wrong Planeteers]. I generally do not read papers or watch TV, and when I do I ignore pretty much all the politically relevant parts. I was born in a sequestered academic family and have done my utmost to hide from the world.

Herself has some [eccentric] political interest, and I hear a bit from her - but I do not take in that stuff at face value, and I have plenty of REAL stuff to stock my interests.

I do not - I think I can fairly say - lean right or left. I come closest to agreeing with those do think of politics as one of those not in MY backyard deals. I will [IF I happen to sight them] like a politician who actually seems to talk sense over rabblerousing Powervolk - but they are rare and pretty much neverr make it past the primaries. I would find politics more interesting if any of it dealt with truth or real solutions to real problems.

Some issues tend to be accentuated by people who possess extreme or powerful views.

For example, in the abortion debate, you frequently hear the catch phrase "Abortion is Murder."

Most people in the middle can see both points of view: yes, the sanctity of life is important, and yes, a woman should have the right to choose.

Political neutrality is the rejection of politics. Indifference is a position and therefore cannot be neutral.

Everybody has the right to choose. Not all of us get to enact our preferred consequences as law.

I certainly have the right to choose to put a whoopy cushion on the woolsack. Certain others have the right to choose to block my attempt or impose sanctions.
