Praying in tongues is cool

I have to give some of them credit, some of the people who do that sound really wicked cool. One former drug addict I saw at some religious meeting I went to actually sounded he was speaking a real language. The way he writhed on his knees and threw his head around in spasms was entertaining.

Also, Star Jones can do that on the view. It's not religious, she just does it. It's a trip, what people can do.

The fun starts about 2 minutes into it, maybe a bit before. Note that this is an abbreviated version of the original documentary, which ran to something like 45 minutes. For some reason Youtube yanked the full version, but seems to be letting this one stand.

Must admit I kinda like the music. Not that the musicians are particularly good, but they're certainly sincere. And I've always been kind of a sucker for "rockabilly," which is what they're really playing, whether they realize it or not.

Among the myriad of medical conditions I suffer from, one is Low Testosterone, so bad I actually have to apply Androgel daily. Given all of this I figure I need to stay as far away from The View as is humanly possible. :wink:

Note that at least one type got so heavily into glossolalia that he went berserk tracing glossolalia around the world.

One needs to watch to what spirit one yields - and because some groups make a power point of it there is fakery.

From a purely pragmatic point of view, I submit it beats being a drug addict. Both for the individual, and for society at large.

All that spinning, and then the serpents get passed around. Then more slouching and spinning to some down home band on stage. What a freak show.

I've heard about those snake handling churches. I read somewhere this one preacher or whatever the hell he was started his own service that featured snake handling. He goes grabbing snakes by the handful, to prove the power of God would protect him. He went a good 21 years regularly playing with deadly snakes without getting a single bite. Sounds like something Westboro Baptist Church would do.

In Morocco, they do the snakes thing to the tourists too, to take pictures to take home.

Or are you perhaps one of those who have spent years investigating glossolalia? In which case, you might have wanted to speak more formally, given that "praying in tongues is fake" appears to be a kneejerkyh generalization from one who has not in fact researched the topic.

Trust me, I'm the very last person you'd want to see dancing - really, really bad coordination on my part. And I'm the last to believe in having the Spirit animating me or anyone to dance around or speak in tongues, or that sort of thing.
