Thats the least of the problems in Genisis.
So God tweeked Adam's DNA when he remodeled the rib. Turned his Y chomosome into an X chromosome turning Eve into a female. And since the bible was written before watson and crick they didnt bother to explain that part to the audience of that time and left that out of the BIble.
BFD!
But even so that means that Adam and Eve were identical twins of the opposite sex.
Thats still kinda yucky. Boneing your own twin sister!
Okay-maybe God did more than give Eve an extra X chromosome. Maybe he tweeked her whole genome- alterted it by a tiny amount- so that the two were the genetic equivalent of unrelated mambers of the same species- like most spouses.
But even then- well they had a flock of kids. But those kids had to mate (for us all to be here). And since they were the only humans on the planet at the time that means we are all the products of a bunch of siblings getting it on. So that means that are all inbred White trash like the banjo playing kid in Deliverence! Actually that could explain alot.

yes it is normative for the western mind to deconstruct it in that way but the point of the story is that earth (adam) and life (eve) got together and began the human race. it is a touching creation story, considering that there are very few creation stories from this part of the world over the course of thousands of years that ever included the creation of woman.
From earth came life, and earth and life created the human species.
Tell that to the modern Fundies who insist on taking Genisis absolutely litereally!
So you're saying in essence that Genisis is not a true story, but it is a story that contains truth.
How dare you use that much common sense!
Fundie dont like that!
When you take it that way it is a beautiful- but still baffling story.
Ironically- among the many themes the tale seems to allude too is-evolution!
Like you said: life and earth, spawned the human race.
God made Adam and Eve out of mud ( nonliving matter through implied but not stated intermediate steps became living humans).
And adam and eve orignally lived in a world without either death or sex.
In other words adam and eve lived like one celled microbes still live today- as immortal cells reproducing by fission that never die (unless eaten by ameboes).
For billions of years our ancestor were also immortal asexual microbes.
The Fall could be an eerie racial memory of the Cambrian Explosion 600 million years ago when our ancestors became multicellular and were forced to both reproduce sexually and to become mortal ( ie to simulaneouly invent both sex and death) when they vaulted from being paramecium to being jellyfish.
Or it could be taken as a racial memory of a more recent, but still distant(from the bronze age when the story was written) past, when humans made the transformation from being hunter-gatherers to pushing plows for a living.
In the Garden of Eden we lived as part of nature in the food chain with other wild organisms, after the fall we were forced to subdue nature by exploiting domesticated plants and animals to live. And that forced us to have to put up with high population densities, infectious diseases, class stratification and having other humans tell us what to do.
So was God planting lessons about evolution into Genisis?
Or is the story the product of some species wide racial memories and archtypes that also crop up in other myths?
Or Im I just projecting.
Or is the story itsself a rorshach print into which anyone can project anything?
