Should the European Pope sell the Vatican and then, with the profits, move everything to Jerusalem so he is closer to where Jesus Christ lived and died? There is zero evidence that Jesus Christ ever visited Rome/the Roman emperors at all.

That's a good idea. Actually the Pope could suicide, and so he could get closer to Jesus.
Maybe if all other christians would do that too, that would please the lord even more.

A war zone is not a good place for a Pope to make his HQ.

Thats just the start of the long list of reasons why that would be a bad idea.

Yes, it is 100% legal for the Pope to sell the Vatican and move it to a new location like Jerusalem, Israel. That's my understanding.

Then the Church wouldn't be Sovereign though. The Catholic Church pretty much has total say over the Vatican and Italy has no jurisdiction if I remember correctly.

They would be giving up more than simply land to just move to the middle of warzone.

tu es Petrus et super hanc petram ædificabo ecclesiam meam et portæ inferi non prævalebunt adversus eam.
et tibi dabo claves regni cælorum.

The locus of Christ's life, death and resurrection are rendered irrelevant by Christ's conferral of the episcopal mandate on Peter. Since the biblical record suggests that Peter did travel to Rome and establish himself there, it follows that Christ built his church wherever Peter's perigrinations took him.

Alternatively, if you choose to take the cynical view, those who want to create a global movement are best advise to position themselves as close as possible to the centres of power.

Only if the Israeli government allows the Pope and the RC to set up their administrative center in Israel.

To paraphrase Jesse Jackson, Jerusalem is a Hymie Town.

Yes. The Vactican is an actual soverign nation. Ridulously small like Monaco, but sovereign. Its only like a couple hundred acres in down town Rome, but its a seperate nation from surrounding Italy.

Back when Italy was not a unified nation ( medieval and modern times up until the 19th centurey) "the papal states" included not only all of Rome but a whole band of land across the middle of the Italian peninsula- a respectable sized small country.

Anyway- Israel would not likely allow the Vatican to recreate a soveriegn enclave like the Vatican in Jeresulem.

Who would buy it? Saudi Arabia? It would make a great gambling casino rivaling Las Vegas and all that wonderful statuary and art would look marvelous in a gambling hall.

The Fascists secured the Vatican for the Holy See with the Lateran Treaty.
