I wonder how many people know the Christmas tree is the symbol of the deified Nimrod. I wonder how many Christians know Christmas is really a buffet of various pagan customs. Christmas is one of the biggest cons religions have been pushing on the masses for centuries. They think they're worshiping and honoring Jesus, but what they're really doing is practicing paganism.

Pagans know Christmas is really a hijacked pagan holiday given Christian names...

Let's compare:

Christmas comes mostly from Saturnalia (Roman paganism B.C. 217), also called Feast of Natalis Invicti ("birthday of the unconquered")
Courts closed on Saturnalia
Schools closed on Saturnalia
Suspended military operations during Saturnalia
Devotion to banquets. The ancient Egyptian pagans ate Goose for Winter Solstice. Ancient Roman pagans feasted for Saturnalia. Ancient Greeks held feasts to assist their god Kronos.
Eating roast pork for Christmas in Europe. Pagan druids sacrificed a boar's head to their goddess Freya at this season. In Scandinavian mythology Freya is the goddess of love.
Special dishes for eating. Pagan druids made cookies in the shape of humans and animals which were used to represent real humans and animals that they formerly sacrificed to their demon gods.
Exchange of visits happened during Saturnalia
Giving of presents. Pagan gift-giving was a key part of Saturnalia; slaves ruled over their masters
Candle light services. Pagans lit tapers and burned them during Saturnalia for Saturn, God of harvest
Christmas carols. Pagans sang hymns in their feasts to Saturnalia
Christmas greeting "Ho! Ho! Ho!" Roman pagan greeting "Io, Saturnalia!" — Io (pronounced "e-o") being a Latin interjection related to "ho" (as in "Ho, praise to Saturn")
Yuletide. "Yule-time" comes from Germanic paganism A.D. 730
Holiday wreath. Pagan sun worship
Mistletoe and Kissing under mistletoe Pagan druidic superstitious. The kissing under the mistletoe was part of the mystic rights at the time of the winter solstice.

Still, worth asking... is Christmas a celebration based on the Bible?

Was Jesus born on December 25th?

The Encyclopedia Americana informs us: “The reason for establishing December 25 as Christmas is somewhat obscure, but it is usually held that the day was chosen to correspond to pagan festivals that took place around the time of the winter solstice, when the days begin to lengthen, to celebrate the ‘rebirth of the sun.’ . . . The Roman Saturnalia (a festival dedicated to Saturn, the god of agriculture, and to the renewed power of the sun), also took place at this time, and some Christmas customs are thought to be rooted in this ancient pagan celebration.”—(1977), Vol. 6, p. 666.

What about the Wise men, or Magi, being led by a star

Those Magi were actually astrologers from the east. (Matthew 2:1, 2) Although astrology is popular among many people today, the practice is strongly disapproved in the Bible. Deut. 18:10-12 reads: "There should not be found in you anyone who . . . employs divination, a practicer of magic or anyone who looks for omens . . . For everybody doing these things is something detestable to Jehovah." Ask yourself would God have led to the newborn Jesus people whose practices He condemned?

What about Gift giving as part of the celebration; stories about Santa Claus, Father Christmas, and so forth

The practice of Christmas gift giving is not based on what was done by the Magi. Note that the Bible account does not say that they found the babe Jesus in a manger, as customarily depicted in Christmas art. When the astrologers arrived, Jesus and his parents were living in a house. As to Jesus’ age at that time, remember that, based on what Herod had learned from the astrologers, he decreed that all the boys in the district of Bethlehem two years of age and under were to be destroyed. (Matthew 2:1, 11, 16) They did not arrive at the time of Jesus’ birth. Furthermore, they gave gifts, not to one another, but to the child Jesus, in accord with what was then customary when visiting notable persons. Jesus' birth was notable for both friends and enemies of the Messiah.

The Encyclopedia Americana states: “During the Saturnalia . . . feasting prevailed, and gifts were exchanged.” (1977, Vol. 24, p. 299) In many instances that represents the spirit of Christmas giving—an exchanging of gifts. The spirit reflected in such gift giving does not bring real happiness, because it violates Christian principles such as those found at Matthew 6:3, 4 and 2 Corinthians 9:7. Surely a Christian can give gifts to others as an expression of love at other times during the year, doing so as often as he wants to.

I'm not trying to ruin your holiday. I'm just trying to show you the truth about Christmas.

So?

I'd rather laugh with the pagans than weep with the hypocrites - the pagans are much more fun.

(With apologies to Billy Joel.)

Don't JW rip off Christianity who in turn had some pagan origins?

It's kind of like if a kid today said they love the song "Wish You Were Here", which explained why they had Fred Durst posters all over their room.

Not at all.

Blessed Be!

(This is just a wild guess, but I think the OP just found out that he's not getting what he wanted for Christmas.)

And for one day in the entire Earth, all our leaders and their worse enemies can celebrate. That in itself is worth celebrating, no?

A few "instead" things are done all year. Christmas is just once in that year. :)

Also, let me remind you that Britain did have druids as well. So-it's-part-of-your-heritage. Enjoy. ~.~

Also, Freya is also the goddess of the hunt. Do you suggest we change calendars too now since we have Saturn's day and other related names for the days that are inspired from mythology? <.< (Saturday)

Heck, even the Japanese celebrate Christmas, and they're not even majoritary Christian or share an historical past with Europe (the kind that saw the practice rise)!

In its purist form paganism is the worship of any man-made objects, nature, heavenly bodies, or a combination of all three. Why is it wrong? Because the worship given to those things is exclusive to the one who created the heavens and earth in the first place, Jehovah God. He tells us he created the heavens and earth in numerous scriptures in his Word the bible...

Genesis 2:4

2 Chronicles 2:12

2 Kings 19:15

Knowing his nation of Israel had lived for 400 years under Egyptian slavery Jehovah told his people NOT to behave like the nations do. They all had their gods and practices but all were pagans. This is why Yahweh/Jehovah states at Deuteronomy 5:8-9, "You must not make for yourself a carved image, any form like anything that is in the heavens above or that is on the earth underneath or that is in the waters under the earth. You must not bow down to them or be led to serve them, because I Jehovah your God am a God exacting exclusive devotion". An idol can represent anything. How insulting is it that an mere object can represent the most powerful being in the universe?

The apostle Paul states at 1 Corinthians 10:14 "Therefore, my beloved ones, flee from idolatry." The practices of paganism conflict with Jehovah's view towards idolatry. As followers of Christ and worshipers of Jehovah we cannot give any object (whether a statue, nature, planet, or sun) the worship that belongs exclusively to Jehovah. As Revelation 4:11 states: "You are worthy, Jehovah, even our God, to receive the glory and the honor and the power, because you created all things, and because of your will they existed and were created."

In Japan and elsewhere Christmas is a mostly secular holiday, thus becoming purely commercialize paganism. I'm referring to Christians who celebrate Christmas for religions reasons. I believe most do it out of simply not knowing the true origins of the holiday coupled with family tradition. As a Christian I'm just trying to spread the truth about the holiday.

But, isn't Jehovah a Heavenly Body?

Are you thinking of converting to Judaism?

What is Jehovah going to do with the glory, honor and power that he receives from humans?

So paganism is wrong because the Bible says so.

No. Jehovah is a spirit. Jesus explains, "God is a Spirit, and those worshiping him must worship with spirit and truth." (John 4:24) There exists two realms. The heavenly bodies, our planet, and humans and animals make up the material realm. Jehovah God, the angels, and even Satan and the Demons are spiritual beings and live in a difference plane of existence. Regarding humans Hebrews 2:7 explains we were "made ... a little lower than angels", but we where given "glory and honor" over the earth and animals as caretakers. That was Jehovah's original intention for humans before Adam, Eve, and Satan rebelled.

No. The Jewish people for all their efforts are no longer Jehovah's chosen people. Jehovah is a progressive God. (Proverbs 4:8; Daniel 12:4) He decided a long time ago that a chosen nation would not work for his purposes, so instead he would go in the direction of a spiritual nation made up of individuals who he would write law in their hearts. Jeremiah 31:33-37 shows Jehovah would basically dissolve the old covenant and establish a new one.

Quote:
33 “For this is the covenant that I shall conclude with the house of Israel after those days,” is the utterance of Jehovah. “I will put my law within them, and in their heart I shall write it. And I will become their God, and they themselves will become my people.”

34 “And they will no more teach each one his companion and each one his brother, saying, ‘KNOW Jehovah!’ for they will all of them know me, from the least one of them even to the greatest one of them,” is the utterance of Jehovah. “For I shall forgive their error, and their sin I shall remember no more.”

35 This is what Jehovah, the Giver of the sun for light by day, the statutes of the moon and the stars for light by night, the One stirring up the sea that its waves may become boisterous, the One whose name is Jehovah of armies, has said: 36 “‘If these regulations could be removed from before me,’ is the utterance of Jehovah, ‘those who are the seed of Israel could likewise cease from proving to be a nation before me always.’”

37 This is what Jehovah has said: “‘If the heavens up above could be measured and the foundations of the earth below could be searched out, I myself also could reject the entire seed of Israel on account of all that they have done,’ is the utterance of Jehovah.”

Jesus states, "Do not think I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I came, not to destroy, but to fulfill" (Matthew 5:17)

Paul confirms at Romans 10:4, "For Christ is the end of the (Mosaic) Law, so that everyone exercising faith may have righteousness." (Romans 10:4)

And again at 2 Corinthians 3:4-6, "Now through the Christ we have this sort of confidence toward God. Not that we of ourselves are adequately qualified to reckon anything as issuing from ourselves, but our being adequately qualified issues from God, who has indeed adequately qualified us to be ministers of a new covenant, not of a written code, but of spirit; for the written code condemns to death, but the spirit makes alive."

He's going to show Satan to be a liar.

(Job 1:7-11) And Jehovah went on to say to Satan: “Have you set your heart upon my servant Job, that there is no one like him in the earth, a man blameless and upright, fearing God and turning aside from bad?” At that Satan answered Jehovah and said: “Is it for nothing that Job has feared God? Have not you yourself put up a hedge about him and about his house and about everything that he has all around? The work of his hands you have blessed, and his livestock itself has spread abroad in the earth. But, for a change, thrust out your hand, please, and touch everything he has [and see] whether he will not curse you to your very face.”

(Proverbs 27:11) Be wise, my son, and make my heart rejoice, that I may make a reply to him that is taunting me.

Basically Satan said people only worship you out of selfish reasons and not because they truly love you. Those who continue to give Jehovah's the love, glory and honor he deserves helps furnish him with the reply to Satan's taunts. :)

Somehow I think you believe the bible to be a old book filled with words and punctuations, and not to be taken serious. I can't force you to believe what the bible says... that comes entirely from you.

Heh. Well, I don't celebrate Christmas and have not for most of my life. Why would I spend 40 minutes assembling the information for the first post because "I'm not getting what I wanted for Christmas"? If you do research in any secular encyclopedia they will confirm what I posted about Christmas. I'm not making this information up.

Jesus said "God is a Spirit, and those worshiping him must worship with spirit and truth." (John 4:24) If evidence after evidence concludes that Christmas is a lie then how can a Christian truly worship God in truth? If "it is impossible for God to lie" (Hebrews 6:18) and "God cannot lie" (Titus 1:2) then can it be reasonable to say Jehovah expects the same from his worshipers? Think of all the children who believe in a Santa Claus, the North Pole, flying reindeer, and Santa's workshop only to discover - to their horror - that it's all a lie. That's what I'm trying to say about Christmas itself. All of Christmas is a lie based on various ancient pagan customs. It has nothing to do with Jesus.
