Listen to this from 55:49... they seem to have similar ideologies, but no, they're practically copying each other and competing as to who lies more. Of course, while Russia's media is owned by an oligarchy... in the states he seemingly only has some beauty contest shows, but regardless, Twitter and free news due to the election serve the same purpose... presumably the difference being there are still stations and others who can (so far) challenge him, whereas Russia seems to be truly totalitarian (try in sixteen years' time when he's installed himself as permanent supreme fascist, with everyone needing identical hairstyles no doubt).

Summary of the above five minutes would be that instead of trying to convince people with a singular form of the 'truth' (like a thread in PPR) post-truth politics practically bombards people with a variety of versions in the hope they're confused and disenchanted... this was recently seen in the turn out of the Russian election, since the last one at least was rigged and people were suppressed from protesting...

...and yes, half of the 'free' states want a similar oppressive demagogue...

History, not only repeats, but parallels.
