Which one determines what actions you take and why? Which one gives you the ability for you to be you no matter what happens?

I believe that almost everyone (including most of those who are religious) use their conscience and reason to decide what is moral. They might claim it is the Bible, but they pick and choose which parts of the Bible to follow. The only exception might be the Orthodox Jews. They seem to go by their book to the letter. Most religions have progressed over the years to reflect the societal evolution of morality. These days, for example, they don't stone people. Hmm, now that I think of it, Islamic fundamentalists appear to follow their holy book to the letter too. They also act like people did long ago, since that was when their book was written.
