Here's another you may enjoy -- cold war secret police training video. An agent training video made in communist times by the hungarian secret police to train future agents. I guess there are some estimates that the amount of people spying on each other in Eastern Europe may have been as high as 1 in every 6, brothers spying on fathers, mothers spying on daughters, neighbors spying on each other, quite paranoid times.

What is your evidence of this? Also, what is your evidence that Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, the true father of modern rocketry, whose idea of using rockets to put men in space, designed them primarily as weapons of war?

I don't buy that we are in a destabilization stage at this point. The US is perhaps less efficient than more socialized systems, but this is unlikely a result of the soviets and more of a problem with how we've set up our current system.(the shock stories are shocking because they are not the standard) Also, the current Democrats are not a far-left party, but rather they are an expression of a combination between Progressivism(a value already existing in the US) and more traditional US perspectives. The compromises they are willing to make are unacceptable to the far-left, and the institutions we've maintained are actually still resilient enough to face against another major enemy.

You do realize that this is entirely irrelevant to ruveyn's comment, correct?

Whether the USSR was capable of holding off German advances for a bit is not relevant to whether they were a highly productive people whose society advanced and grew.

I'm guessing most people who bash Communism have never read Marx.

It is not healthy that a super tiny portion of the Right thinks that the Government will actually do this.

But it is very healthy that almost all of the Right fears that an unrestrained Government can do this.

What is equally unhealthy as the tiny % of the right who holds certain conspiracies is that almost all of the Left - and their belief in the linear trajectory of progress - view the human being as having inherently progressed, and that we are then in a position to be the exception to history. They have the nerve to call the government fascistic but also want them to be the only ones who are armed. They think it can't happen again, because we are too smart and know better.

When history does repeat itself under their watch, amnesia ensues, and their back to ripping their society a new one with every epithet imaginable. It is an odd religion, the Left.

What about people who are too young or never investigated how communism really works in practice and believe communist bloc propaganda?

The October revolution was 95 years ago. We've had plenty of time to study how communism works in practice. Reading Marx now would be an exercise in mental masturbation since communist countries are an abject failure and socialist ones are collapsing now as well. The remaining communist governments have been forced to adopt capitalist reforms or try to remain ideologically pure in a state of extreme poverty, and in one noteworthy instance leave it's people to starve and freeze to death in the dark!
