Would you give up your guns to live in another country?

In the event you were offered a high paying job in a country that has strict gun control, would you take the offer if it meant you could not take any weapons with you? Would you do the same if you wanted to marry someone in a country with strict gun control?

For example, my chosen path is teaching Political Science at a university level. If I was offered a position at a school in Canada, the UK, or Australia, I would gladly take it. However, I would probably opt for dual citizenship and leave any weapons I had in a safe in the care of a family member.

That would depend on how long I would lived there. Personally, I could never permanently live in a society that treats me as a felon and leaves me at the mercy of criminals. To me it's not a matter of weapons, which I could make if I really wanted to, it is a matter of a basic right to self defense, which even a dog is entitle to.

Maybe short term of it's work related but I'd never immigrate to a country with gun laws stricter than the US.

All of mine are legal in most parts of the world, so it wouldn't matter.

Now, if I had to move somewhere where they were, I'd just move to archery for recreation and blackpowder rifles for hunting; they do the same things.

No I would not move. I do not believe that any good can come from a gun.

If the country was prosperous with a stable economy and good social services, I'd hope there would be less crime. In a case like that I would do it.

Yeah, that's a good way to put it. Somewhere like England, Germany, if I could find stable employment and a promising career I'd even give my guns away. But I don't have the same attachment most gun owners do.

I don't have guns, the gun laws would not be my first concern when debating my residency. I certainly would prefer to have the option to have them but if there were trade offs like better income, less taxes, less crime, etc. factored in I would gladly give up any aspirations for owning weapons.

Most of the places with stricter gun laws have much higher taxes.
