There's some validity in this theory since the Earth used to look exactly like Hell several billion years ago.

That was the Hadean Eon - the first geologic eon of Earth. It began with the formation of the Earth about 4,600,000,000 million years ago and ended about 4,000,000,000 years ago. The name "Hadean" derives from Hades, the Greek name for their god of the underworld. The name is in reference to the "hellish" conditions on Earth at the time: the planet had just formed and was still very hot due to high volcanism, a partially molten surface and frequent collisions with other Solar System bodies.

The Earth is what it is. Adding a label of "Hell" wouldn't change anything.

My perception of Earth doesn't change its essential nature.

If I conclude today that Earth is Hell, it's the same Earth that was here yesterday. It's only my understanding of it that has changed. And so the strategies that got me through the day yesterday will be the strategies that will get me through the day today.

We'd have to figure out why we die on average after about 80 years in hell. Where else is there to go?

I don't know that Earth is hell but I have found Hell on Earth while I was out in Queenstown, NZ two years ago. They make a pretty decent pie, and yes....they do serve beer.

Actually there're 9 gates and even of these gates there are several different divisions based on 'type'. Quite an elaborate scheme he's got going.

Most of that though still doesn't sound like the good ol' badass 'I will burn them with fire!'.
