I think it's bunch of BS, I always say what I think. Not to say that I'm a boor, I always try to preserve polite and not to be rude, but I don't not recognize the "sacred cows" status.

Nope. It's a load of crap.

It's situation dependent. I don't like the idea of having to censor myself just for the sake of some rule. OTOH there are too many knuckle-draggers who use the "anti-PC nonconformist" card as convenient cover. They they think they have the absolute right to be an obnoxious numbskull, piss all over whoever they feel like, and then start crying like a baby about their "free speech being infringed" when they are told exactly what to do with their unasked for opinions.

Well, what are the rules of political correctness? Don't the rules vary, depending upon the crowd with which you're running? For example, what Fox News would consider politically correct would be very different from what a normal news network would consider politically correct. And, the term often ends up being used in an accusatory manner from one party to another. Typically, someone like Rush Limbaugh will denigrate another point of view by labeling it as "politically correct", while he maintains his own strong opinions about what is, in his mind, "politically correct", but without calling it that.

Yes, because I'm not sure when I can safely violate them. So I err on the side of caution. I have no problem bashing Republicans and rural folks though.

I don't know because I've never ascertained what the term actually means.

I've only ever heard it in the context of: Person says gratuitously offensive thing. Someone else looks shocked or says something about it and the first person replies with "oh, I forgot, you can't say (repeats offensive remark) any more, it's politically incorrect" Despite the fact that they did say the abusive term. Twice.

So it would seem from that that political correctness involves not using language of abuse towards anyone not like yourself.

So it would appear I am politically correct, as abusing others isn't something I have the urge to do. But why that needs a nonsense phrase to describe it is anyone's guess.

I tried to be PC at one time but got tired of it.

As a paragon of political correctness I always subscribe to the latest confected horror of which I am told to be diligently afraid.

I try to be polite.
I don't see the point of a lot of the rules of political correctness, though.
