We are a small group of researchers from Boston University interested in how different cognitive traits motivate or discourage individuals towards certain lifestyle choices and intellectual interests. We are more specifically interested in cognitive traits which exist on a spectrum such as systemizing vs empathizing, local vs global processing bias, literal vs gestalt thinking, logical vs intuitive.
Several years ago we conducted a research study on how different cognitive styles influenced individuals' religious orientations. Part of that study was based on a survey that many wrongplanet users voluntarily participated in. For this we are forever grateful. To support our previous research we are re-investigating how cognitive styles relate to personality and lifestyle choices. Among the topics we are interested in are on what basis do people judge others' actions, or do they judge them at all, do people see actions as mostly intentional or do they rely on situational factors to answer these questions.
We have already obtained consent from the owners of Wrongplanet to post another survey on your website to gain valuable information for this new study.
Participation is completely voluntary and no personal or identifiable information is required to participate, nor will it be collected for any reason.
We value and respect your opinions and are asking your permission before posting the survey. We are open to any questions or concerns you may have and will happily address them in a timely manner.
Allowing us to post the survey does not in anyway require or obligate anyone on this forum to participate.
