Sentient thought, mortality, ability to communicate verbally, and being within the genetic range covered by the homo sapien species, within the appropriate margin of error to include people with mental and physical disorders.

I would have to disagree with Ganurath for a few reasons, although I will admit that his speculation on this matter is a good attempt to be thorough and a sign of good thoughts on this matter. One, I don't think that mortality necessarily is a requisite thing to be human. Let's just say that we develop some form of anti-aging treatment in the future, would sections of the human population then cease to be human as they ceased to fear the dangers of age? As well, I will have to reject verbal communication if only because mutes are still human in my mind although it is easy for us non-mute to forget them. I would say that if we stick to sentient and within the genetic range we would probably have an excellent working model with the only question arising(in my mind at least) possibly from whether or not human beings are defined only as sentient or as having thought higher than that.
