Should we support our government's foreign policy or should we have a right to oppose it without being seen as an enemy of the state?

We have the rights to free speech and press, and the right to petition Congress for redress of wrongs.

We can write our Congresspersons to indicate our displeasure with their decisions.

We will not become enemies of the state unless we make threats of violence, take violent action, or reveal state secrets.

If it were otherwise, those who voted against whoever is currently in office would now be incarcerated for an indefinite period.

Don't believe what the conspiracy nutters tell you.

Any government of any country. The question is not specific to a particular country.

I do not support the government in the first place.

It depends on how you want to oppose a policy?

who is 'we'?

Make up your own mind, and speak about it.

Something you can't do in many countries, but you can in the UK, and you are doing it now.

The government already supports you.

I wish they would make it a bit more obvious then.

Tell them. HRM should be happy to hear from one of her subjects.

I think she is too busy counting my money to answer personal correspondence.
I might be less bothered if she occasionally seemed not to have her royal pants up in a bunch.

I agree completely. The Allied governments should have informed their citizens about the *real* D-Day plans rather than deceiving everyone with Operation Bodyguard. Both FDR and Ike should have faced a court-martial and a firing squad for their deceptive shenanigans.

Edit: Accidental redundancy.

A citizen of a democracy can oppose anything he or she wants, including foriegn policy.

By "foriegn policy" you most likely mean "waging war".

Even in war time citizens of democracies are allowed to express disapproval of the war effort. They maybe made to feel like traitors by social pressure, but they are not legally traitors just for expressing disapproval.

And as a European, nothing bad is going to happen to you because of this. This goes for Americans as well.
