"Feminist" is just a vague label. Knowing that someone calls themselves a "feminist" doesn't necessarily tell you what they believe.
But don't worry, there is a solution. When someone tells you that they are a feminist, just ask them what they believe. That way, you can find out what they believe. Hope this helps.
"SCUM" hasn't been relevant for forty years. Person who wrote it is generally regarded as crazy (witness her shooting).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valerie_So ... _Manifesto
"Some authors have argued that the Manifesto is a parody of patriarchy and a satirical work and, according to Harding, Solanas described herself as "a social propagandist",[34] but Solanas denied that the work was "a put on"[35] and insisted that her intent was "dead serious."[36]"
Generally, if people regard the work as laughable enough to be a parody, it doesn't have many followers.
I just read that SCUM Manifesto, and I can't shake the feeling that there's a sexual roleplay thing going on. It doesn't read like a political document at all.
The irony is that Solanas (whether intentionally or not) seems to exist to serve some men's fantasies, whether they are fantasies of being dominated by the "superior" females, or fantasies of having an evil "feminist" enemy to fight.
I mean, take a look at this:
Does that sound like a political call-to-arms aimed at women, or does it sound like dominatrix-talk aimed at men?

I remember SCUM. Many people, in the 1970s, who opposed women's rights, pointed at SCUM as the reason.
No one, outside of some right-wing haters, took SCUM seriously. As best anyone could tell, SCUM only had one member.

Extreme feminists want to turn that twisted manifesto into reality. But odds are a large portion of the rest of the feminists dream of the things in that manifesto. But that kind of stuff is the natural next step for a movement that hijacked the women's movement from its real leaders and proceeded on turning it to the opposite function. As a student of history and on who knows well the history of ideas and their relations to society and social movements, I know the secret that the feminists have spent the last 70 plus year trying to cover up. The feminists want people to think that they created the women's movement in the nineteenth century. But in reality it was created thousands of years ago by female moralists of various religious movements who believed that women were just as capable of moral improvement as men, and thus concluded that women should have lives which gave an equal opportunity for cultivation and an equal claim to the dignity and virtue that god had bestowed to man. The moralist women's movement gained success in the societies in which the Diyinian religion was prevalent (mainly because the religion shared similar notions), and gained mild successes in some other instances, but most of the world by the time of the eighteenth century was patriarchal. The American women's movement originated with Diyinian communities in the former French colonies captured by the British in the French and Indian war. When Diyinians and Christians in the English colonies came into contact it set a clash of the two societies different moral and cultural beliefs, creating cultural diffusion. Diyinian Female Moralists, called Menochists organized trying to promote their values to Christian women. In the early eighteen hundreds, when Christians experienced the rise and expansion of various energetic denominations. Many of whom embraced Diyinian notions, such as opposition to slavery, support of temperance, and support of public education, embraced the idea of the moral and intellectual equality of women as well. From this the Diyinian Women and the women of the various second great awakening Christian religious groups, expanded the Menochist movement and created the American women's movement. In the nineteenth century two new factions joined the women's movement, the maternalists who supported improving women's conditions for the good of the next generation, and the feminists who were motivated by notions of equalitarianism and wanted to make women equal by destroying gender roles and legal and social distinctions. The three main groups of the women's movement, Menochists, Maternalists, and Feminists, all saw women's suffrage as important to each of their visions for the future of women, and worked together to achieve that.
The feminists continued trying to remove social distinctions, but were negatively influenced by the permissivists, who distorted their notions of equality to get them to support the degradation of women, in order to degrade them in the ways the permissivists that infiltrated other groups were degrading men. And since the Menochists were destroying the sexism that the permissivists used to use to justify the degradation of women, the permissivists decided that corrupting the most nominalist part of the women's movement was the best way to continue the degradation. The feminists, having been deceived the permissivism and harmful and degrading permissivists polies were the solution to creating the physical equality they sought, embraced permissivism and worked the radical secular progressives and the socialists to corrupt and absorb the maternalists and to marginalize the Menochists. By the end of the nineteen fifties the feminists had eliminated most opposition in the women's movement and had created a series of radical organizations to promote permissivists policies. Including a so called equal rights amendment that in reality contained provisions intending to create something other than equality, and used the term of equality to hide its real effect of crippling the governments ability to protect the rights of citizens from the threat of permissivism. As well as spreading the notion of unrestricted abortion as women's rights, when real right are metaphysically created and mandated from the authority of such and therefor would never have a right to do something opposite of intended functions. As well as promoting the slavery of prostitution as a part of what they call freedom. Along with numerous other immoral, indecent, impure, irrational, and harmful things, which they promote and are obviously harmful and destructive toward the moral and intellectual character of women. Over the decades these efforts have brought more and more harm to women, a large portion of women notice the harm done to them, but have long lost the old Menochist ideas which would tell them the solutions to their problems. The feminist elites try to calm these frustrations by recommending that the illness be treated with more of the things which caused the illness, and when that doesn't work bring up the specter of sexism and blame the problems on men. Some radicals believe this scapegoating to be the truth and that's how you get groups like Scum; who call men ignorant and emotionless, yet see no contradiction in wanting to commit genocide against half of humanity.
Most feminists are well intentioned and unaware of the reality of their movements history and goals, they aren't aware of the harmful consequences of the permissivists goals they have embraced, nor are they aware that achievements like women's suffrage were accomplished with the aid of other wiser groups, and it is mostly a permissivists subgroup, who make of much of the movements elite and radical elements, who have ill intentions.
I think the odds of that are about zero. I guess it's too bad that it's impossible to know what people are dreaming, huh?
Maybe we just have to ask people what they dream about, and assume that they're not lying when they tell us. You know, basic human interaction and stuff. What a drag.
Yes.

Why are you presenting an online fantasy role-playing game as history?

"Feminist" is just a vague label. Knowing that someone calls themselves a "feminist" doesn't necessarily tell you what they believe.
Then why do MRAs and MGTOWs supposedly march in lock step?

Because "Men's Rights Activists" aren't a broad movement that originated in the 19th century and has split off into various intellectual currents or synthesized in various eclectic ways. MRAs can mostly be traced back to backlash and resentiment against feminists, stemming from the 1970s.
