If you believe in biblical creationism, you are a friggin IDIOT!
End of story.
Denying evolution on literal biblical grounds requires denying virtually all of modern science developed since the time of Galileo, Copernicus, Kepler and Newton. The Bible teaches flat earth, it teaches geocentric cosmology and it teaches Yong Earth all of which are factually FALSE.
Now it may be that some transcendental god is manifesting itself into the observed workings of the world. That is why some Christians believe evolution, as it is now understood, maybe this deity's way of making the world go.

I'm a Christian who accepts the theory of evolution. I can understand where young earth creationists are coming from, but I really don't think Genesis was meant to be scientific. The thing that scares me most is how dogmatic they can be about it. You can disagree with them about interpretation of prophecy or how God's sovereignty works, but if you're not a young earther or "biblical creationist" you're a "compromiser" who needs to repent. They give the rest of us Christians a bad reputation.

I'm starting to think the idea of Natural Selection itself may be very important to fields other than biology. One possibility being Economics. Another might be Socialology. Natural Selection seems important to consider when thinking of any kind of process involving competition.
In Bill Nye's case, he is more of a chemist or engineer. That kind of background gives a person an informed perspective on the long geological processes the Earth or even the Solar System has gone through. Or even applying Geology and Engineering to modern day processes like Gas Fracking. To him, it's probably hard to imagine what a Creationist thinks about harvesting natural resources.
What this really comes down to though is being taught to Believe vs. being taught to Think and Reason.

I think many creationists would accept natural selection, especially when applied to other areas. They just don't believe there was enough time for natural selection to do much biologically.
You're probably right that in growing up, creationists probably experienced more positive emphasis on faith than on logic and reason which I suppose could affect their performance in other fields, but I doubt drastically. It's worth noting, though, that many creationists think and reason their way into rejecting evolution, or at least believe they do.

To accept science, and more specifically the scientific method - you would have to reject evolution based on logic, but prove it with evidence, experimentation and observation. A scientist with a hypothesis, a conclusion, and no evidence connecting them is a philosopher.

If creationists "think and reason their way into rejecting evolution," then it is nearly certain they are basing their judgement on false information and faulty logic. Garbage in, garbage out. Creationist web sites, books, movies and speakers are notorious for ignoring much of the strongest evidence for evolution and denying or distorting what they do not ignore in a blatantly dishonest way.
I for one think it would be awesome if students actually were presented the young earth creationist viewpoint in science class, but only if they were then to be presented with the actual evidence and reasoning that falsifies such views. If they really were taught to reason critically from evidence using logic, these kids would go screaming home to their parents about being lied to by their church. Those creationists who want their religious ideas presented in public school science classrooms should really be careful what they wish for. IF it were done honestly, then their kids would see how deluded the parents are.
OTOH, many public school science teachers either are creationists themselves or are bending over backwards and walking on tippy toes to avoid offending parents who may be religious nut jobs. So if these ideas were forced into science classrooms where they do not belong, odds are that in many classrooms the students would not actually learn the strengths and weaknesses of competing ideas but would instead be dumbed down by lies and religious propaganda. Unfortunately that is happening already across the country and is one of the greatest shames of the United States of America public school system, even though landmark court cases such as Kitzmiller v. Dover show the "breathtaking inanity" (the words of Judge Jones) of those trying to cram obviously religious beliefs into science courses.

Even if Evolution is still just a Theory and not concrete enough to be called a Law?

Yes. Disagreeing with evolution and presenting an alternative hypothesis is fine, but it's the first step, not the last.
Conclusions are based on observation, not based on hypothesis.

If one rejected a theory because of an adverse experiment or contradiction with an established fact, there is no fault to that.
However rejecting a scientific theory that has been established by decades or centuries of experimental corroboration on the grounds that is clashes with a Holy Book is uttermost idiocy.
The Bible is a book of stories told by and for late Bronze Age dudes. It is not a book of fact, it is not a book of truth. It is mostly fiction.

Idiocy in a specific area, not necessarily idiocy in general, which, to me, is what it seemed like Nye was implying.

Is a Theory really a conclusion? I thought a calling something a Theory is like saying "This is the best we can do.". Or rather, the Theory is a model that works and gives us results even if we don't have all the empirical evidence and fully understand it. Sort of like Quantum Theory which is confusing as hell but may give us results. Or Relativity.
