From Nate Silver:

Didn't need Nate Silver to tell me that, it's pretty plain to see, barring some calamity or another.

This is pretty obvious to anyone that follows these races, the fact democrats maintained control in 2012 is still pretty shocking to me.

The democrats are not taking the news well; apparently statistics have a conservative bias...

That's not 'Democrats not taking the news well' or 'Democrats claiming that statistics have a conservative bias.' The programs I listen to have all been pretty realistic about the chances, and no one has come down on Mr. Silver.

The only realistic chance of the Democrats maintaining control of the Senate is to pick up seats in Georgia and Kentucky. Mitch McConnell is unpopular but he is a very powerful man in a very conservative state, Georgia is an open seat with an insanely crowded GOP primary matched up against the daughter of a well liked former US Senator in another very conservative state.

Did you bother to read my linked article? That was most definitely a democratic spokesman not taking the news well and coming down on Nate Silver, who had been previously showered with praise when he was calling 2012 for Obama.

Yes, I did read your attached article, and one Democratic spokesman is not "Democrats."

edit: one low-level Democratic spokesman.

I actually hope that Republicans win the Senate. It will accelerate the downfall of the GOP in its current form.

The Republicans have been spared the full brunt of political backlash against their current policy platform by the fact that they haven't actually been in power since Bush Jr.

If they actually try to implement some of the major policies from their current policy platform (on LGBT or abortion issues), they will be completely annihilated in the presidential election in 2016.

And the Republican capacity for making policy - even if they manage to get a majority in both chambers of Congress - is severely limited by the most powerful man in the US: Associate Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy.

Enough rope to hang themselves with, in other words?

We all know that they're going to say, "The American people have given us a mandate!" if they win the Senate. ;p

So you'll be applying this same level of semantics parsing to posts generalizing about conservatives, republicans, and men based on singular or anecdotal examples in the future then?

Perhaps I was blinded by the title a bit, 'Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee political director' sounded like someone speaking for a goodly chunk of the party.

One thing to keep in mind tho is how Harry Reid changed and abused the Senate rules as Majority Leader, the shoe may be on the other foot soon. Obama is still president and can veto whatever but that won't be the case after 2016.

The composition of the house may change in 2016, and the next pres. might still be Democratic.

The NRA is not a political party, and at 5 million-ish members, does not even represent a significant portion of the hundreds of millions of gun owners in this country. Nice try though.
