Next time one of lord toad's entourage or supporters whines about having their freedom of speech trespassed on, show them this.

Although it should be noted, it seems the police did not get involved until after the councillor concerned threw a public schoolboy hissy fit. Just goes to show and reconsolidate as if it were ever needed, the suspicion of whose priorities, social class and vested political interests are really served by the police in this country.

Another own goal, lads. You'll have to try harder than this to get into Brussels. Bad show.

He didn't ask him to remove it. The Green councillor is lying about this.

The problem that the UKIP complainant had was with potential misrepresentation - i.e. the use of the UKIP logo, combined with party colours on the graphic. It potentially could confuse voters that this is genuine UKIP literature.

The police were looking into any possibility of impersonation.

I also hope Keith Taylor loses his seat. I spoke to him recently, and whilst he was a very nice man, he advocated against development of nuclear fusion. When I put it to him that even fission would consume less space than a renewable energy plant, he said "but we have loads of space". That is really dodgy environmental policy for a Green. If only Lucas were standing...

However, I would rather Taylor than either of the #1 picks for the Tories or UKIP, as both are climate change deniers and generally not people who are suitable for government. I like both of Labour's top picks, even if they are a bit Blairite and Howarth can be overly confrontational. Libs seem very electable, if a bit too pro-Europe. I do like some of UKIP's lower picks, but not the party favourites.

Current polling would indicate that the Greens will get a similar vote share to last time - but it seems the polls usually overestimate their share of the vote (and likewise for UKIP, though not the BNP) so maybe not. At the moment it's looking like a Labour victory, with UKIP in a very respectable 2nd.

Nuclear power is one of the few areas where i am at loggerheads with the green party but anyone who regards themselves as a friend of ordinary people and general decency would have to be out of their minds to favour one of these besuited right-of-centre etonian dinosaurs over any of the candidates the greens have to offer.

Our local Green MLA here in North Down is possibly the least pretentious and most down to earth, accessible public servant you could hope to encounter. I have met him on several occasions at his clinic where he can be found every week which is more than could be said for Paisley, Dodds and co.
