Two miracles to become a saint?

It's a miracle they find anyone!

To become a saint one has to have performed three miracles and not buggered an altar boy. That is a very difficult standard to meet.

not buggering an altar boy 3 times constitutes 3 miracles for most of them.

Although this Pope is in some respect a breath of fresh air, the flip side is his job is to be purposely vague about actaully solutions to problems.

I mean if he had the responsibility of an elected politician, his populist style would need to be backed up with something.

On the other hand maybe there is something to be said, to simply creating mood to change people behaviors. As an Atheist (from a Catholic family), it is somewhat intriguing. I don't really need this type of leadership, but it is true the people rely often other to regulate their behavior, rather then that changing it themselves. Perhaps some example, even if it is vague and open-ended actually can help with this.

Similar issue occurred in Orthodox Jewish communities. With the same code of silence, and being to not to report to police especially to gentiles. There was a Dispatches investigation into it. In fact a common interpretation of Jewish family law recommends dealing with many crimes, through an internal process.

No I didnt think so either I wasn't nominating the church administrators for sainthood. The miraculous healing of pedophilia within the catholic church would be logistically impossible given the ratio of non pedophile to pedophile priests.

Think of it as a science experiment. Every "miracle" is investigated for its "authenticity." That is a tough standard by itself, but to ensure the proposed "saint" is legitimately doing miracles, they want to see it happen at least 3 times. Once or twice could just be a coincidence.

Two miracles. They have to be verified. And they have to be posthumous.
You have to cause them AFTER you die. You cant be some kind of magician who just conjures miracles while alive.

Though- I could be wrong- but if you got martyred while alive that might count extra. Kinda like the qualifications listed in Federal job announcements that say "substitute three years of experience for every two years of education". Maybe one martyrdom counts for one miracle. So you would only need one miracle if you got burned at the stake by Heathens for refusing to convert to Heathenism. That might get em to cut you some slack.

But if you dont like that "greedy" Vatican standard you can always just join the Mormons. They set the bar REALLY low. In fact just joining the LDS church is enough for you to become a Mormon "saint". ALL Mormons, living and dead, are considered "saints". Which is why its called the "the Church of Latter Day Saints".

A small price to pay surely.
